The International 13 will feature 16 of the world’s best Dota 2 teams. But only six of them received direct invitations to the tournament. The remaining ten need to qualify.
Like in previous years, a total of six regional competitions are held for the purpose of determining the best competitors. Each region was given one or two spots, depending on how strong it was evaluated to be.
Eastern Europe and North America received just one qualification spot. Western Europe, South America, China, and Southeast Asia received two qualification spots.

In North America, the eternal battle between Shopify Rebellion and nouns is likely to continue. One way or another, these two teams will probably meet in the Grand Final and one of them is going to Sweden. The last time they met, nouns won 3 – 2. But before that match, Shopify won with the same score three times in a row.
SA Favorites
In South America, the number of favorite teams is high. The list includes:

- Cuyes Esports
- BOOM Esports
All of these teams have players who are highly experienced and quite accomplished. We’ll have to see who comes on top.
WEU Favorites
In Western Europe, the list of strong candidates is even longer than in South America.

- Nigma Galaxy
- Team Bald
Arguably, the winners will be two of the first three teams on the list. But the other five also have fairly high chances. It all depends on their current form and level of preparation.
EEU Favorites
In Eastern Europe, Virtus.pro and Natus Vincere are the two big favorites. In the qualifier for Riyadh Masters, VP defeated Na’Vi in the Grand Final without losing a single game. The score was 3 – 0, so it’s a bit difficult to be optimistic about Na’Vi’s chances.
China Favorites
China has two spots and three formidable teams: G2.iG, LGD Gaming, and Azure Ray. Based on everything we’ve seen in recent months, the first two of these teams will likely qualify for TI13. Azure Ray seem to lack something and it’s not clear what it is. On paper, the roster looks solid. But whenever they face a tough opponent, they crumble.
SEA Favorites
In Southeast Asia, Aurora and Blacklist International are the biggest favorites. Bleed Esports, TNC Predator, and Talon Esports will try to cause an upset. But it will be difficult against these two competitors. The skill difference is too great.
