The LCS Summer Split finals will be held at United Center in Chicago

Riot Games has unveiled the details for the LCS Summer 2022 Playoffs, announcing that the finals will be held on September 10 and 11 at Chicago’s United Center in front of a live audience.

Riot Games has revealed the location and date of the upcoming LCS Summer Split tournament in a promotional video that included a glimpse of The United Center in Chicago, Illinois, the United States, as the venue for LCS finals.

League back in NA

This will mark the first time in six years that a League of Legends event is being held in Chicago. The last time the city hosted an LoL event was in 2016 when the Chicago Theatre hosted the quarterfinals of the League’s World Championship.

This will also be the first time since 2020 that the LCS Summer Split will take place in front of a live audience. Because of Covid 19, the LCS Summer Split 2021, which was set to be held in New Jersey, was canceled and left the fans disappointed.

Riot returned the LoL action to the North American region only recently with the 2022 LCS Spring Split Finals, which was held earlier this year at NRG Stadium in Houston. Thousands of League fans gathered as Evil Geniuses defeated 100 Thieves to win the organization’s first championship. It was the first LCS event with a live crowd since the Covid-19 epidemic broke out.

Teams, format and schedule

Ten North American League teams will participate in the upcoming LCS Summer split, namely Cloud 9, 100 Thieves, Dignitas, Evil Geniuses, Fly Quest, TSM, Team Liquid, Golden Guardian, Immortals and Counter Logic Gaming.

The event, which will feature some of the world’s top League squads, is set to begin on June 17. For eight weeks, the teams will compete in a double round-robin group stage with the top eight teams advancing to the double-elimination playoffs.

The final two playoff brackets will be played on September 10 and 11 at the United Centre in Chicago. Based on the outcome, the top three teams will qualify for the World Championships 2022 and get a chance to represent the NA region on a global platform.

LCS Summer 2022 Playoffs in Chicago

Tickets for the finals will be available online beginning June 24 at 10 a.m. PT, with a pre-sale window opening on June 23 at 10 a.m. PT for Mastercard holders. In addition to live LCS action, the audience will be able to also enjoy a Fan Fest with live entertainment and food.

Furthermore, LCS is teaming with Youth Guidance, I Play Games, and the Chicago Park District to give local students and parents a unique, behind-the-scenes experience. According to Riot’s official statement, the experience will include access to VIP backstage tours, activations at Fan Fest, as well as esports career guidance from the specialized staff as part of the company’s dedicated panel.
