The Groups Of ESL Pro League S20

fragster Radu M. 27. June 2024

The four groups of ESL Pro League S20 have been revealed and it looks like the month of September will be full of exciting matches.

The tournament is scheduled to take place between September 3 – 22 and will feature 32 of the world’s best CS2 teams.

Group A

Group A of ESL Pro League S20 is one of the toughest. No less than five teams with decent chances of advancing are fighting for the four qualification spots.

The tournament format is very forgiving, consisting of three brackets instead of two, but that doesn’t mean you can’t get eliminated early if you play poorly. We saw what happened in the previous edition, where Ninjas in Pyjamas, Eternal Fire, Team Falcons, ENCE, and HEROIC did not survive the group stage.

Here are the participants in group A:

  • FaZe Clan
  • Natus Vincere
  • HEROIC
  • NiP
  • Eternal Fire
  • Sangal Esports
  • FlyQuest
  • Lynn Vision

The first three teams on this list should easily qualify. The 4th and 5th will likely fight against each other for the 4th spot. The bottom three teams have very low chances of advancing to the next stage.

Group B

In group B of ESL Pro League S20, there aren’t that many great competitors, so the four available spots should be more than enough to allow all the favorites to advance.

  • Team Spirit
  • G2 Esports
  • The MongolZ
  • 9z Team
  • Wildcard
  • MIBR
  • 3DMAX
  • KOI

The top four teams on this list are much stronger than the bottom four and should not start losing until the upper bracket semifinals, where they will likely face each other.

Group C

Group C will be very challenging. At least one important team will be eliminated.

  • MOUZ
  • Astralis
  • Complexity
  • BIG
  • Fnatic
  • M80
  • Imperial Esports
  • Rooster

If they play their usual game, MOUZ, Astralis, and Complexity cannot fail. BIG, Fnatic, and possibly M80 will compete for the 4th spot.

Group D

In Group D, Team Vitality and Virtus.pro should have an easy time. Everyone else will find this group quite challenging.

  • Team Vitality
  • Virtus.pro
  • Team Falcons
  • ENCE
  • Team Liquid
  • FURIA Esports
  • RED Canids
  • ATOX Esports

For the bottom two teams on this list, the chances of success are close to zero. Liquid are in trouble at the moment because they’ve decided to change their coach and their IGL. Regardless of who will join the organization, it will take months before stability is reached again.
