It is not like the tournament from the previous years as Tekken World Tour 2024 takes an ambitious route. This year’s tournament will be implementing a revamped format specially on the format, tournament structure, qualifications, and more. It presents new tournament tiers and expanded regional representation to ensure the inclusivity of the event. Now, here’s what you may need to know about the Tekken World Tour 2024.

Format and Tournament Structure

Tekken World Tour 2024 (2)

Changes are coming for the Tekken World Tour 2024. To start off, the tournament will only conduct offline competitions. This is contrary to the previous years, where they had both online and in-person events.

The decision to play offline is assumed to ensure a level playing field for players. In addition to this, it was intended to make the tournament more accessible for players who are struggling to travel to attend the global competitive events.

Next off, the structure for the tournament also has significant changes. The tour will feature four distinct tiers of events to complete the tournament’s cast.

  1. Master+ Tier: This tier has the highest stakes and most ranking points up for grabs among the rest. It serves as the top-level major tournament for this tour. So far, only two Master+ events have been announced, such as the Evolution Championship Series 2024 in July and the Evolution Championship Series: Japan 2024 in April. However, there might still be other competitions to come in the latter half of the year.
  2. Master Tier: A step lower from the Master+ level, it is the tournaments that can still earn you adequate points to spot higher in the global leaderboard.
  3. Challenger Tier: It allows a wider pool of players to enter the competition in comparison to the upper tiers in the tournament. Competitions under these tiers serve as entry-level competitive events. Most players here have lower points than Master+.
  4. Dojo Tier: A more inclusive tournament within Tekken 8. In this tier, competitive events allow anyone to participate and be awarded points based on the number of participants. The Dojo events will still have a bearing on the regional and global leaderboards.

Qualification for the Tekken World Tour Finals

Not only the formats changed, but they also changed the road for qualifications. Players now have two paths to earn qualification for the season-ending Tekken World Tour Finals.

Players may get a ticket to the Tekken World Tour Finals through the global leaderboard. You’ll have to strive harder to earn a spot by being one of the top twenty global players.

However, this leaderboard will depend on their best placements across tiered competitions to qualify directly for the Tekken World Tour Finals. Tough luck, but there’s another option available to take.

Securing the #1 position in your regional tournaments will let you reach the final stage. On the regional route, the ranking will be determined by their Dojo event performance. It will remain a challenge as the tournament’s open for anyone to participate; that’s why you’ll see a larger number of participants. The Tekken World Tour currently has 15 regions that will each get a slot.

These qualification systems aim to create more opportunities for players to reach the heights of the Tekken competitive scene, regardless of whether they excel on the global stage or within their local communities.

Regions and Tournament Schedule

Americas: North America, Central America, and South America
