After a successful debut with the first ever Teamfight Tactics global LAN event held in December 2023, Riot will be holding the second event this December 2024—the TFT Macao Open. Dates and Location
The TFT Macao Open will be held from December 13 to 15, 2024. It will be a three-day tournament that will take place in Cotai Expo Hall D, The Venetian Macao. With over a total of 512 players competing in day 1, only one winner will be crowned on day 3. It is needless to say that each day of the event will surely be action packed and will be a one-of-a-kind experience.
Format of The Event
TFT Macao Open will be having two kinds of events: the main event and side events. Having two types of events would allow the attendees to enjoy the game even if they are not competing in the main tournament.
Main Event
The first day of the main tournament will have three rounds in total.
- Round 1 – The 512 competing players will be divided and put into eight lobbies and battle for three games each. The top 4 with the highest points in each lobby will proceed to round two.
- Round 2 – The 256 players that advanced are again divided into eight lobbies and will battle for three matches as well. The top 4 with the highest points in each lobby will advance to round 3.
- Round 3 – The 128 players will be further divided into eight lobbies and more will be eliminated after three games. The top 4 points holder in each lobby will go to round 4 of the next day.
Day two will have three rounds as well with the same goal of trimming down the best out of the competing players.
- Round 4 – The 64 players will again be divided into eight lobbies to play three games each. Those in the top 4 spots of each lobby will move forward to the next round.
- Round 5 – The 32 players will be divided into eight lobbies and play three games. Top 4 of each lobby will go to the next round.
- Round 6 – 16 players will be divided into eight lobbies to play three games in order to get the top 4 of each lobby.
Day three is where the final battle will happen and will be played differently than the previous days.
- The remaining 8 players from that huge number of competitors will battle in a checkmate format and race toward the goal of reaching 20 points first to win the title.
Side Events
There will be free game stations for those who attended the event but are not playing in the main tournament. Here, players can enjoy fun modes, 4v4, normals, and more!
TFT Macao Open Prize Pool
The total prize pool of TFT’s second major tournament will have a total of $300,000 USD to be split among the top 128. The Champion or 1st placer will win a grand total of $100,000 USD.
Aside from the cash prizes, exclusive unique emotes will also be given to all participants based on their ranking when the tournament concluded.
