TEAM VISION have become the first team to qualify directly for the playoffs at The International 2026 after a dominant 2-0 victory over Team Spirit in Shanghai.
Both Eastern European teams entered the series with perfect 3-0 records in the Swiss Stage, meaning the winner would immediately secure one of the three direct Main Event positions.
VISION left little doubt about the result. They controlled both games, with Alan “Satanic” Gallyamov producing a deathless series as his team moved to 4-0 and earned several days away from competition before the playoffs begin on August 20.
TEAM VISION dominate the opening game
The first game quickly demonstrated why TEAM VISION entered The International among the leading championship contenders.
VISION drafted Nature’s Prophet for Satanic alongside Earth Spirit for Volodymyr “No[o]ne” Minenko. The combination provided mobility and strong mid-game pressure, allowing the team to repeatedly punish Spirit before its lineup could comfortably scale.
VISION gradually pushed Spirit toward its own base and built a substantial advantage.

Spirit attempted to create a comeback opportunity through coordinated fights and Black King Bar timings, but VISION repeatedly responded effectively.
The opening map ended after approximately 37 minutes.
Satanic completes a deathless series
Game two was more competitive during its opening stages.
Team Spirit again trusted Illya “Yatoro” Mulyarchuk with Drow Ranger while attempting to build a lineup capable of surviving VISION’s pressure and reaching stronger late-game timings.
For roughly the first 15 to 20 minutes, the approach looked more promising.
VISION eventually took control again.

Satanic once again avoided every death and finished the second game with seven kills and 12 assists. No[o]ne remained equally influential on Earth Spirit and suffered only one death across the entire series.
Satanic’s 18/0/30 combined performance made TEAM VISION’s first direct playoff qualification one of the strongest individual statements of TI 2026 so far.
VISION eventually completed the second game after 53 minutes and secured the sweep.
Perfect Swiss run sends VISION directly to playoffs
The victory completes an undefeated Swiss Stage campaign for TEAM VISION.
Their road to 4-0 included wins against Team Resilience, defending champions Team Falcons, BoomBoys and finally Team Spirit.
That sequence is particularly impressive because several of those opponents entered Shanghai with realistic championship ambitions.

With four series victories, VISION no longer need to compete in the remaining Swiss or Elimination Round matches.
Instead, the team advances directly to the Main Event at Shanghai’s Oriental Sports Center, which begins on August 20.
Spirit still have another direct qualification chance
The defeat does not put Team Spirit in immediate danger of elimination.
Spirit now hold a 3-1 record and receive another opportunity to claim one of the remaining direct playoff places. Their next opponent is Nigma Galaxy in the 3-1 bracket.
A victory would send Spirit directly into the Main Event alongside TEAM VISION.
A defeat would mean navigating the Elimination Round instead.
The Swiss structure sends the top three teams directly into the playoffs. Teams finishing fourth through 13th enter an additional Elimination Round, while the bottom three teams leave the tournament. Five more playoff positions are then awarded through those elimination matches.
TI 2026 field continues to narrow
Elsewhere in Shanghai, the standings are becoming increasingly important.
Falcons defeated BoomBoys 2-1 to stay in contention, while Liquid, Aurora, Nigma Galaxy and several other teams continue fighting for their positions before the Swiss Stage concludes.
The tournament began with 16 teams, but only eight will ultimately reach the Main Event.
That makes direct qualification particularly valuable. VISION avoid another elimination series and gain several days to study potential playoff opponents while the remaining field continues competing.
Assessment
TEAM VISION could hardly have produced a stronger route into the TI 2026 playoffs.
Going undefeated through four Swiss series is already significant. Doing so while defeating the defending champions, BoomBoys and Team Spirit makes the run considerably more impressive.
The Spirit series was particularly convincing. Satanic did not die once across two games, while No[o]ne consistently disrupted Spirit’s plans with Earth Spirit.
Direct qualification does not guarantee anything once the playoff bracket begins. The International has repeatedly shown that tournament momentum can change quickly when teams reach the Main Event.
For now, however, VISION have earned something every other team in Shanghai still wants: a guaranteed place at the Oriental Sports Center and several days to prepare for the battle over the Aegis.
