Team Spirit are through to the Grand Final of The International 2026 after dismantling Team Yandex 2-0 in the Lower Bracket Final in Shanghai. The two-time TI champions controlled both games and ended Yandex’s run in third place, setting up a final showdown with TEAM VISION for the Aegis of Champions.

The result completes an impressive lower-bracket recovery for Spirit, who had previously been sent down by TEAM VISION. They now get an immediate opportunity for revenge in the biggest series of the tournament.

Spirit take control in Game 1

The opening game lasted 37 minutes and 25 seconds and initially remained competitive. Team Yandex were able to keep the gold difference manageable for large parts of the match, but Spirit gradually gained control of the map and the major objectives.

Spirit eventually finished with 26 kills to Yandex’s 15 while holding a 100,000 to 90,200 total gold advantage. More importantly, their structural control became decisive: Spirit destroyed nine towers and five barracks while Yandex managed only three towers.

  • Game 1 lasted 37:25
  • Spirit won the kill score 26-15
  • Spirit destroyed nine towers
  • Yandex failed to take a barracks

That map put Yandex under immediate pressure. After losing the Upper Bracket Final to TEAM VISION one day earlier, they were now one defeat away from elimination.

Team Spirit dominate the second game

Game 2 was even more one-sided.

Yandex’s draft lacked reliable control once larger fights started to develop, and Spirit took full advantage. The early stages were relatively even, but Spirit’s teamfight execution quickly separated the two teams once the match moved beyond the laning phase.

Spirit ended the second game with 38 kills compared with only 14 for Team Yandex. The available match statistics also show a huge economic difference, with Spirit reaching roughly 95,300 total gold while Yandex finished around 74,100.

Spirit never allowed Yandex to turn the series into the long, high-pressure battle that might have given them a route back into the match.

Game Spirit kills Yandex kills Duration
Game 1 26 15 37:25
Game 2 38 14 34:19

The 2-0 scoreline was also significant because recent meetings between these teams had frequently favored Yandex. Earlier in 2026, Yandex had beaten Spirit in several competitions, including a 2-0 victory during the Esports World Cup playoffs in July.

Spirit’s lower-bracket run gathers momentum

Spirit had to take the longer route to the final after losing 1-2 to TEAM VISION in the Upper Bracket earlier in the playoffs.

They responded by sweeping Team Liquid 2-0 and then defeating BoomBoys by the same score before meeting Yandex. The latest victory means Spirit have now won three consecutive elimination series without dropping a single game.

  • 2-0 vs. Team Liquid
  • 2-0 vs. BoomBoys
  • 2-0 vs. Team Yandex
  • Six straight map wins in elimination matches

That run has put Spirit within one series of another TI title. The organization already has championship history at The International, which adds another layer of pressure and expectation to the Grand Final.

Team Yandex finish TI 2026 in third place

For Team Yandex, the defeat ends an otherwise strong tournament.

They reached the Upper Bracket Final after beating Team Liquid 2-0 and Nigma Galaxy 2-1 in the main event. Their 1-2 loss against TEAM VISION sent them into the Lower Bracket Final, where Spirit proved too strong.

Third place remains a notable result, but the final day exposed the difference between reaching the late stages of TI and actually converting that run into a Grand Final appearance.

Yandex had already shown that they could beat Spirit during the season. This time, however, they were unable to reproduce the same control or punish Spirit’s drafts and rotations.

TEAM VISION await in the Grand Final

Spirit’s final opponent will be TEAM VISION, who secured their place through the Upper Bracket with a 2-1 win over Team Yandex. The Grand Final is scheduled as a best-of-five, giving Spirit another chance against the team that previously defeated them 2-1 in this playoff bracket.

That previous meeting gives the Grand Final an obvious storyline. Spirit already know where the matchup became difficult, while TEAM VISION enter with the advantage of reaching the final without having to survive the same lower-bracket schedule.

Assessment

Spirit’s 2-0 victory was more than a routine semifinal win. They controlled the pace across both games, punished Yandex’s weaknesses and maintained the momentum they have built throughout the elimination bracket.

The most encouraging factor for Spirit is their consistency. Six consecutive map wins under elimination pressure suggest that the team has found its strongest form at exactly the right moment.

The Grand Final will be a different challenge. TEAM VISION have already beaten Spirit during these playoffs and arrive through the Upper Bracket. Spirit, however, now have momentum, recent information from the first series and another chance to adjust.

If they can carry the same discipline into the best-of-five, Spirit have a realistic opportunity to add another Aegis to their history. For Yandex, meanwhile, third place confirms that they belong among the strongest teams of TI 2026, even if the final step proved out of reach.
