Team Liquid Signs MithR

fragster Radu M. 12. July 2024

After weeks of keeping us wondering about their CS2 roster, Team Liquid have finally revealed their first new signing. MithR from Apeks was brought in as the team’s new coach.

Based on his previous achievements with a relatively insignificant team, it’s clear that he has the qualities required to help the NA squad win some trophies or at least improve their results. Liquid is currently ranked 14th but they could easily become a top five team again.

With NAF, YEKINDAR, and Twistzz still part of the roster, there’s simply no excuse for not performing well. For a while after completing their roster, Liquid will not be expected to win trophies. But the hope is that by the end of Summer, they will be ready to compete against the world’s best again.

MithR’s Results

MithR is 34 years old, so he’s not exactly starting his coaching career in CS2. Some of the teams he coached include Tricked Esport, ALTERNATE aTTaX, North, Renegades, mousesports (MOUZ), and Apeks.

He’s been active since the launch of CS2, so he probably understands the current meta better than most.

While coaching Apeks, mithR obtained these notable results:

  • 9th – 12th place at IEM Sydney 2023
  • 2nd place at Elisa Masters Espoo 2023
  • 2nd place at DreamHack Atlanta 2023
  • 13th – 16th place at IEM Katowice 2024
  • 20th – 22nd place at PGL Major Copenhagen
  • 3rd – 4th place at DreamHack Melbourne 2024

With a slightly better roster, he might have achieved a lot more. No doubt, he’ll be happy to finally collaborate with some of the world’s most talented players. Twistzz came to Liquid from FaZe Clan and won seven S-tier trophies since the start of 2022, including a Major. He also won Intel Grand Slam Season 4.

So he’s perfectly used to playing on a big stage against the best of the best and finding highly creative ways to win.

The other two players are not quite as accomplished but they too are formidable individuals. It now remains to be seen who else will be signed to complete the roster. With cadiaN and skullz out, Liquid need two new players to replace them.

In theory, you’d think that someone like s1mple would be interested in joining the organization. After all, the Ukrainian superstar started his ascension while competing for the NA club. There are lots of other options, but the main issue here is that Liquid need an upgrade if they want to win. They can’t just sign anyone.
