SURPRISINGLY, the VCT EMEA League ended as Team Liquid defeated the super team Fnatic 3-1 to become the tournament champions.

Undoubtedly, this is an extremely surprising result, as we all gave Fnatic as the imminent champions of the VCT EMEA League. However, Team Liquid didn’t see it that way, and they pulled off a spectacular reverse sweep to become champions. Also, it is worth mentioning that Team Liquid broke Fnatic’s winning streak of 21 consecutive matches.

Let’s see what happened in the final match between Fnatic and Team Liquid of the VCT EMEA League.

Team Liquid apply a reverse sweep to be crowned champions in VCT EMEA League

Team Liquid delivered one of the most pleasant surprises for the VALORANT community in the EMEA region after an incredible 3-1 victory over Fnatic in the grand final. We say it’s a pleasant surprise because Fnatic looked completely unbeatable in the tournament and worldwide. Let’s remember that Fnatic was coming into the grand final match with a 21-game winning streak in a row.

The grand final between Fnatic and Team Liquid was played on Lotus (Fnatic), Ascent (TL), Haven (Fnatic), and Fracture (TL).

Lotus

It all started on Lotus, Fnatic’s map pick, where we had the privilege of witnessing a truly spectacular match that had to be defined in the final stages of the map.

Fnatic started with everything on their attacking side and were able to hurt Team Liquid so much that they took a partial victory in the first half by 8-4. However, Team Liquid managed to wake up at the start of the second half and were 12-11 on the scoreboard. Finally, Fnatic was determined to win the last round, avoid Overtime and take the first and only victory in this series.

Ascent

In Ascent, we also had a spectacular match where both teams showed their strength on their defensive side. Team Liquid started this map extremely well, as after losing four of the first five rounds played, the team could take the partial victory in the first half by 8-4.

Then, Team Liquid quickly took a 12-5 lead at the change of sides. However, Fnatic was responsive enough to come back and take the match to Overtime. Ultimately, Team Liquid won the first two Overtime rounds to even the series 1-1.

Haven

Team Liquid struck the second blow in this series in Haven, Fnatic’s map pick, as they pulled off an excellent 13-6 victory that left the tournament’s favorite team without much of a chance in the series.

Team Liquid started with everything in Haven, winning the first half with an imposing partial score of 8-4. Then, unlike the previous map, Team Liquid’s guys managed to crack Fnatic’s defense to win the remaining five rounds to take the win and put Fnatic in check.

Fracture

Finally, we witnessed a pitched battle in Fracture, Team Liquid’s map pick, where both teams left to sweat and tears in each round.

Like the previous two maps, Team Liquid started strong on their defensive side, winning the first half with a partial score of 8-4. However, as it happened in the third map of the series, Fnatic woke up and started to come back little by little and even took an 11-10 lead.

Finally, Team Liquid overcame Fnatic’s defense to win the last three rounds in a row to take the victory by 13-11 and become champions of the VCT EMEA League.
