Team Liquid crushed EG and advanced to the upper bracket finals

Team Liquid defeated Evil Geniuses for the third time this season to advance to the 2022 LCK Spring Split... Shubh | 5. April 2022

Team Liquid defeated Evil Geniuses for the third time this season to advance to the 2022 LCK Spring Split upper finals. On April 17, the team will meet 100 Thieves in the upper finals, with the winner advancing to the Grand Finals, where $100,000 and a slot in the Mid-Season Invitational in South Korea will be on the line.

Team Liquid got off to a flying start in the series, thrashing EG 13-4 in the first round to take a 1-0 lead. In the second round, Team EG attempted a comeback, but Liquid put up a strong fight. However, Team Liquid quickly lost control of the game as Danny and Impact coordinated their efforts to break past their defense and tie the series 1-1 at the end of round two.

The best of the five series was a scoreboard seesaw and it was team Liquid’s turn to be on the top. Midlaner Bjergsen broke EG down with his Ahri pick. Together with jungler Santorini, he recorded 15 kills out of 17 during the match. Despite EG’s best efforts, they dominated the game and took the round easily.

Team Liquid was only one round away from the finals, and EG was anxious for a win. Thankfully for EG, their AD carry Danny put on a one-man show just when they needed it. He had 18 kills on his Ezreal pick with only one death and a KCS of 1993, tying the series at 2-2 and sending it to the fifth and deciding round.

After EG’s one-sided victory in the last round, it was now time for team Liquid to turn the tide. Han Sama on Jinx and Santorini on Veigo were the standouts in the final match of the series. They kept building pressure on EG, denying them any opportunity to counterattack.

Corejj did an outstanding job as a supporter, assisting on 16 kills and allowing the squad to easily send EG back to the bottom bracket. The best of five series can also be referred to as the scoreline seesaw, which ended with team Liquid on top. EG was incredible throughout the series, but they blew it in the final round and couldn’t keep the momentum going.

On April 10, they will face FlyQuest in the loser bracket. On the other hand, in the winners’ final of the LCS Spring Split playoffs on April 16, Team Liquid will face defending LCS champions 100 Thieves.
