Team Liquid Academy win LCS Proving Grounds Summer 2022

Team Liquid Academy takes down Dignitas Academy in the thrilling best-of-five final to claim their second LCS title of the year. Dignitas battled valiantly for four games, but in the end, TL Academy’s efficient macro play and late-game scaling compositions helped them win the series and the 2022 LCS Proving Grounds Summer championship.

TL Academy’s mid-laner Harry “Haeri” Kang and AD Carry  Sean “Yeon” Sung, led the team to a convincing 3-1 victory over Dignitas Academy in the final, enabling the squad to claim back-to-back LCS Proving Ground championships. The team had a mediocre start to the playoffs as they were swiftly moved to the lower bracket after falling to Dignitas 2-1 in the upper bracket semifinal. However, the squad rallied in the lower bracket, defeating IMT Academy (3-2) and 100T Academy (3-1) to secure a showdown with Dignitas Academy in the grand finals.

Although Liquid showed a lot of confidence throughout the competition, they had some reservations going into their match against Dignitas, the only team they had lost to in the playoffs. In their rematch, Liquid got off to a strong start and dominated Dignitas in the first round to quickly take a 1-0 lead. Liquid’s fierce mid-laner Harry “Haeri” Kang completed dominated the second game, putting forth a brilliant showing on his renowned Ahri pick. He secured an impressive K/D/A of 11/1/1 thanks to his composed playstyle and excellent lanning abilities.

Dignitas bounced back in the third match as their botlaner Toàn “Neo” Trần pulled off a  top-notch performance on his Kallist pick. Unlike game 3, TL Academy did not give the opposition any room for potential comeback plays in the fourth game. As AD Carry Sean “Yeon” Sung went 5/0/4 on Aphelios, Liquid was also able to outmaneuver Dignitas to complete their revenge.

With this stunning 3-1 victory, TL Academy claimed their second consecutive LCS title along with the grand prize of $30,000 USD. After dominating as the team’s mid-laner throughout the series, Haeri emerged as the standout player for TL Academy in the finals. Meanwhile, Dignitas Academy bows out of the competition in second place, taking home $20,000 in consolation.
