The Greatest Reverse Sweep

Fnatic went on the offensive, sweeping the first few maps mercilessly over Team Heretics. The VCT 2025 EMEA Stage 1 champions shut down the Heretics 13-4 on Lotus, their map choice.

There, Crashies and Chronicle made a clang-iron defense that totally suppressed the Spanish team. Fnatic did not relent and finished strong by winning the second map 13-1 on Sunset- the map selection of Heretics.

All of that changed as the series transferred to Icebox on map three. And Wo0t, previously silent throughout the first two maps, woke up on KAY/O, dropping heavy-hitting frags. To add to that, he was holding critical rounds that gave the Heretics the hopes to win the championship. The tight 13-11 victory earned the team a morale boost it needed in case of a much-anticipated turnaround.

Haven produced yet another unseen twist as Heretics returned to recovery of a huge gap. In the initial stage, Fnatic ran rampant on a 9-3 lead at halftime and appeared to have the upper hand. However, the notorious 9-3 curse struck once more and Heretics fought back magnificently in the second half. Wo0t transferred to Iso and went all out with aggressive fearlessness and his teammates hit back against the pressure.

The final map on Ascent delivered as the intense showdown fans have been wanting. Fnatic was just ahead 7-5 at the break, but Fnatic’s passive mid-rounding let Heretics back in. Not to mention, their hesitation gave Heretics the chance to take control of the game. MiniBoo and RieNs took it in their stride, keeping their cool and delivering game-changing kills.

Map results for the historic reverse sweep:

  • Lotus: Fnatic 13-4 Team Heretics
  • Sunset: Fnatic 13-1 Team Heretics
  • Icebox: Team Heretics 13-11 Fnatic
  • Haven: Team Heretics 13-10 Fnatic
  • Ascent: Team Heretics 13-10 Fnatic
