The four-game winning streak extends after T1 defeated HLE, DRX, KT Rolster, and FEARX in their previous Group Battle matches. Even though fairly new in their lineup, ADC Peyz managed to form impressive synergy with support Keria. This victory marked their fifth consecutive win and swept the Group Baron to finish with a 5-0 record.

Not only T1’s teamwork shines through in the match but also their impressive late-game decision making. The team faced early-game struggles in their previous matches but were able to stage comebacks and win crucial teamfights. One of the key players for T1 is their mid laner, Faker, who is regarded as one of the League’s greatest players.

He showcased stellar performance for this season’s tournament, earning two Player of the Game awards prior to their matchup. However, Doran stepped up for the team against Dplus to take his first MVP performance for this season.

Dplus Falls Short Despite Strong Showing

Before the loss, Dplus started the tournament with a 3-1 record after winning against BRION, Nongshim RedForce, and DN SOOPers. Their roster features mid lane superstar ShowMaker alongside young talents such as Lucid, Smash, Siwoo, and Career. Notably, it is the first time for T1 to face their former ADC, Smash, in a match.

While they boast promising individual skills, T1 mastered late-game plays causing Dplus to struggle in capitalizing their early lead. During the match, the team displayed weakness in neutral objective control and mid-to-late game rotations. T1 saw these openings and took advantage of it to take over the match.

Unfortunately, the head coach, cvMax, has no answers to T1’s superior team fighting and macro play. With that, T1 secures a decisive 3-0 win contrary to what many analysts predicted as a close contested series.

Following T1’s 5-0 finish in the LCK Cup 2026 Group Stage, they now moved forward to the Playoffs Stage. Based on the format, only the top two teams from the Winner Group will advance directly to Round 2 of playoffs. Meanwhile, the top team of the Loser Group moves to the Round 1 of playoffs.

This leaves the bottom three teams of Winner Group and middle three teams of Loser Group to compete in the Play-In stage. Unfortunately, the bottom team from the Loser Group faces elimination and championship chances.

Another tournament favorites, Gen.G, remained undefeated with a 4-0 record in their group. Alongside T1, they are positioned as the clear frontrunners to qualify for the FST 2026 International tournament.

The 2025 World Champions, T1, started on a right foot for the LCK Cup 2026. With T1 win vs Dplus, they are now confirmed to move further in the competition and await other advancing teams. Despite the roster changes, the team proved they remain as a champion-calibre with all players contributing to their excellent performances.
