Supercell Launches Global Pricing for Clash of Clans Players

Supercell is excited to announce they are introducing worldwide pricing for Clash of Clans in order to make purchasing fairer for players around the world and are currently in the process of rolling out this update to over 100 countries. In-game purchases and Supercell Store offer will now have prices that are directly correlated to that country’s cost of living.

Fairness Measures: Gift Limits & More

To maintain fairness, Supercell has put a limit on gifting a Gold Pass or Event Pass from lower priced regions to higher priced regions. Under the new gifting limits Supercell will not allow players in a cheaper country from gifting a pass to players in a more expensive country. Gifting still will be possible within regions that have similar pricing tiers, so the gifting feature has not been altogether removed or disproportioned.

Before this update, Clash of Clans has always had a one price to all players no matter the location on the globe. That works for simplicity but has created evident issues, in some countries the prices for the same items have been close to unacceptable and low prices in the same game elsewhere.

Now with global pricing, the Gold Pass that once had the same cost everywhere will change depending on location. For example, some players in Southeast Asia and Latin America see prices up to 50% lower, while in higher-income areas, players may see the price go up.

Ongoing Price Reviews

Supercell said that global pricing will not stay fixed forever. The company plans to check and update regional prices from time to time to match changing economies. This gives players some assurance that adjustments will keep being fair in future.
