Supercell has launched an official goodbye party for Squad Busters, giving its users in their flagship games the opportunity to earn some large crossover rewards related to their time spent in the game. This is happening ahead of the game’s planned shutdown in 2026, and it’s a final nod to the game’s community and an interesting case study of how developers of live-service games handle an end-of-life.
Squad Busters’ trajectory

Squad Busters was released internationally on 29 May 2024, with the premise of a brave experiment. Tons of inspiration was borrowed from existing Supercell IP (Clash of Clans, Clash Royale, Brawl Stars, Hay Day, and Boom Beach) to create an action-multiplayer mobile game with hero-shooter and squad-based mechanics.
On 30 October 2025, Supercell was clear that they would no longer actively develop the game. Although a last content update is expected in December 2025, full-service shutdown is expected sometime in 2026.
The decision does stress that, no matter the initial excitement from its launch, the game did not meet significant performance or long-term engagement benchmarks set by Supercell.
The Crossover Rewards Initiative
What is being offered
Supercell has introduced a limited-time rewards program that allows players to claim bundles across its major franchises depending on how long they spent actually playing its new game, Squad Busters. The games featured include Clash of Clans, Clash Royale, Brawl Stars, Hay Day and Boom Beach.
Mechanics and tiers

Timing and eligibility

- Rewards can be redeemed up until 31 December 2025.
- In-game purchases made within Squadron Busters in 2025 can be transferred to your chosen games via Player Support from 10 November until the end of 2025.
Conclusion
Supercell’s free crossover rewards program following Squad Busters’ closure is a sophisticated approach. It acknowledges veteran status in the game, recognizes the value of their investment, and continues involvement within the Supercell ecosystem. It also provides an open and community-respected model for how a mobile live-service game can end its lifecycle indeed.
