Spartacus, Sony Playstation’s own Game Pass, could be unveiled next week. Spartacus is an internal codename for PlayStation’s forthcoming subscription service, which will compete with Xbox’s Game Pass, according to a report.
The game pass will be a one-stop-shop for Playstation games and services. With certain changes, it will offer a combination of Playstation Now and Playstation Plus features. According to the source, the service would include a succession of blockbuster titles from recent years as well as iconic games from the earlier Playstation era.

It’s likely that new games may be added to the library on a regular basis, similar to Playstation Plus, but it might also go the other way, similar to Xbox Game Pass. The service is intended to have three tiers, each with a different set of games at various price ranges.
The first tier is believed to be relatively comparable to the current PlayStation Plus membership, with the addition of PS4 and PS5 games in the following tiers. Players on the top plan will have access to extended demos and, unlike PlayStation Now, will be able to play the game without having to download it.

An annual subscription to PlayStation Now or PlayStation Plus costs $60, which is about the same as a basic Game Pass subscription and a bit less than Game Pass Ultimate. Spartacus pricing has yet to be announced, but it can’t be excessive given that their major competition, Xbox, charges $10 per month for a membership.
One of the Xbox’s coolest features is ‘Day one Launch ‘, which gives subscribers access to newly launched games. Unlike Xbox, Spartacus won’t feature the newly launched game on the same day and it also may not include the popular upcoming game God of War: Ragnarok. Although, it can be possibly added later.
Despite the fact that PlayStation consoles outsell Xbox consoles, Microsoft’s Xbox subscription pass is an excellent way to gain access to hundreds of popular titles for a low cost. Over 25 million people subscribe to Xbox Game Pass on a monthly basis.
As it seems, Sony is trying to create something better than their existing service with Spartacus. Rather than bringing new games, they are focusing on the catalog of classic and evergreen PlayStation titles.
