Sentinels swept the stage with a remarkable performance. The tournament favorites, Gen. G Esports, bid their goodbyes in VALORANT Champions 2024. 

Early surprises happened on August 10, 2024, at VALORANT Champions 2024. The anticipated rematch, Sentinels vs. Gen. G Esports, resulted in a sweep. The North American powerhouse team, Sentinels, pulled off a dominating performance in their Group B Decider Match. 

The squad managed to secure a spot in the playoffs while also eliminating the strong competitor from South Korea in the tournament. The previous opening match welcomed Gen. G with a victory over the Sentinels.

They continued to lose rounds after their players were eliminated early in the game. Although Sentinels’ map control overwhelms the opposing squad and hindered comeback potential. The game ended in a convincing 13-9 score. 

Game 2: Icebox

Sentinels add an exciting twist to the game as they open a pandora’s box. After banning the map throughout the event, Sentinels selected Icebox for game two’s battlefield. Definitely, they did not disappoint fans by winning this map’s match. 

Strategies worked for the team effectively. Despite Gen. G managed to plant spikes in the first five rounds, however, Sentinels successfully countered and defused the spike each time. The defensive prowess of the Sentinels led Gen. G to struggle and find comeback opportunities. 

Gen G Esports was far behind the leading team to pull off miracles with T3xture’s ace in the game. Sentinel dominated the game two with a 13-6 victory. This gives them a complete sweep against their opponents. 

Key Players and Statistics

Three players came up with superb performances to secure the Sentinels a win in the Group B Decider match. Standout player “Zekken,” or Zachary Patrone, earns a massive total of 40 kills and 11 assists against 28 deaths. Along with this, Tyson “TenZ” Ngo also added 34 kills and 25 assists, as well as “Zellsis” Jordan Montemurro’s 33 kills and 6 assists. 

Despite the defeat, Gen. G player Kim “T3xture” Na-ra led the team with 41 kills and 6 assists in this match.
