The third and last week of the CDL Stage 3 Major Qualifiers is over, and this only means fewer days are left until the start of the 2023 CDL Major III.

The third Major of the season will be played March 9-12, 2023, in Arlington and will be hosted, as we already know, by OpTic Texas. This tournament marks the halfway point of the 2023 CDL season and will be the last one we have in person until the end of May.

Before we get into the CDL Major III 2023, we will briefly review what happened in the third week of the online qualifiers.

Seattle Surge surprises and finishes on top of the table

Without making much noise and with a spectacular level of play, Seattle Surge finished on top of the CDL Stage 3 Major Qualifiers standings with a 4-1 record.

Seattle Surge has had a disappointing year. However, with this great performance in the online qualifiers, the team has all its hopes set on Major III. On the other hand, the event organizers, OpTic Texas, are unfortunately in the middle of the table, as they finished with a 3-2 record.

Recap of Week 3 of the CDL Stage 3 Major Qualifiers

Undoubtedly, the CDL action in the third week of qualifiers was spectacular, and we witnessed some surprises along the way. As mentioned, the Surge beat London Royal Ravens, Florida Mutineers, Minnesota RØKKR, and New York Subliners to finish first, heading into Major III.

Boston Breach also had a similar performance: they beat Los Angeles Thieves in a game that went to five maps at the end of the Major III qualifier.

This weekend’s most unpredictable twist was the London Royal Ravens’ remarkable win over Toronto Ultra. The Royal Ravens are in last place on the overall CDL leaderboard, while the Ultra is in third place.

Toronto Ultra’s performance this past week has been concerning, as no one expected them to lose to the worst team in the CDL after beating OpTic Texas and New York Subliners.

This was the first win for the Royal Ravens since mid-January, and there is no doubt that this is a tough setback for Toronto and their boys.

Finally, despite the Los Angeles Guerrillas’ struggles at this stage, the team created one of the season’s most recognizable videos.

The CDL Stage 3 Major Qualifiers standings are as follows:

  1. Seattle Surge – 40 Pts.
  2. Boston Breach – 40 Pts.
  3. Toronto Ultra – 30 Pts.
  4. Atlanta FaZe – 30 Pts.
  5. Los Angeles Thieves – 30 Pts.
  6. New York Subliners – 30 Pts.
