It’s official! Season 2 of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 will start February 15, two weeks later than the estimated date. The company shares a brief statement that alludes to the critical changes that will be added based on feedback from the community.

In theory, the second season was to be released next February 1, but Activision has confirmed in a tweet that it will be delayed next February 15.

Official announcement

Through its official Twitter account, Activision published an image with a brief statement in which they point out that season 2 will start next February 15.

The game client for MW2 still shows that the current season ends on February 1. If this continues, there will be approximately two weeks of a “low season” period before new content arrives in the game.

The statement reads:

“Season 2 will launch on February 15. Our studios are making several changes based on what they have heard from our player community. Season 2 will include new content, with the return of Resurgence and a new, unreleased small map for Warzone 2.0. The ranked playlist will also return to Modern Warfare 2, plus new multiplayer maps, new modes, weapons and more. Stay tuned for more information.”

On the other hand, Infinity Ward has shared some mechanics that will receive changes this season. They point out three specific elements: the gulag, looting, and custom equipment, which have been the subject of controversy during the first weeks of availability of the battle royale.

Modern Warfare 2 will receive new multiplayer maps, modes, and weapons, as usual. However, no further details have been shared at this time.

Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2.0 came out last year and have been successful in sales and downloads. But many players have been accumulating complaints and dissatisfaction over time. In particular, Modern Warfare 2 players are complaining about a lack of content compared to the number of updates Warzone 2.0 receives.

This is not the first time this has happened concerning Activision

A similar situation was experienced in the Call of Duty: Vanguard Season 2 update and the original Warzone last year. Activision decided to delay the day from February 1 to February 14. This is to give developers two more weeks to work on stability, bug fixes, and other game optimizations.

The delay between Modern Warfare 2 Season 2 and Warzone 2 is not very long. So it will allow developers to resolve some of the community’s requests. However, the inconsistency between Infinity Ward and Raven Software is not a good sign of confidence.

It is no doubt that fans miss features in the original Warzone, but they seem to have lost motivation for other reasons, including bugs, lack of new features, and gameplay issues, such as the lack of stores on the map.
