The Portuguese organization “SAW” continues to reap success for all its fans. After winning their three matches in the ESL Pro League 17 Conference, the team has secured a place in the best international Counter-Strike: Global Offensive league.

This qualification of the Portuguese team means that ESL Pro League 17 will now have two Iberian teams, as they join Movistar Riders from Spain. Unfortunately, the sad news is the elimination of Case Esports, a team based in Spain.

SAW proves that there is a high level in the Iberian CS:GO scene

After the results obtained in the last tournaments played in 2022, SAW continues to prove that the ESL Masters is necessary for teams from Spain and Portugal.

Movistar Riders and FTW have qualified for the ESL Pro League in previous editions. But, this time, it was the Warriors’ turn. The Portuguese managed to lift the ESL Masters title at DreamHack Valencia to close the excellent year 2022. This victory gave them the qualification for the ESL Pro League 17 Conference.

SAW’s path in ESL Pro League Conference

The Portuguese started the tournament with an extraordinary 2-0 victory against Babos. But the road was going to be complicated with their next opponents.

SAW started by losing 14-16 to Endpoint in Inferno. But managed to turn the series around with victories in Nuke (16-12) and Vertigo (16-13). Then, after beating one of the favorites, came another, forZe. Despite the complexity of this match, SAW was excellent throughout the series to beat the Russians with a 2-1 series win.

These three victories qualify SAW directly to a league that includes the best teams in the world. The other team to qualify was Eternal Fire after defeating Sprout.

About SAW

SAW is a Portuguese team that was created in January 2020. The team signed the entire lineup of Giants Gaming, which was disbanded at the end of 2020.

Since then, the organization has had many successes in Level C and B tournaments and outstanding results in Level A events.

In the last two months of 2020, we note that the team won practically all the tournaments in which it participated. The ESL Challenger League Season 43: Europe and ESL Masters España Season 12, both Level B tournaments, stand out. On the other hand, they managed to win the IEM Road to Rio 2022: European RMR – Open Qualifier #4, beating an experienced team like Astralis in the final.

There is no doubt that the presence of this team in a first-level tournament opens the doors to many more organizations that dream of reaching this point. Moreover, it is a unique opportunity for this Portuguese organization to prove its worth by facing the best teams in the world.

The ESL Pro League will start on February 22, 2023, and will have a new format after the latest changes.
