We assumed that San Francisco had made their final signing of the offseason when they announced the arrival of Charlie “nero” Zwarg earlier this week, however it did not take long for us to be proved wrong. The team has now unveiled Gil-seong “Glister” Lim as their latest addition, with the Korean becoming their fifth DPS player.

The former London Spitfire and Gen.G Esports player will provide the Shock with greater flexibility, with San Francisco having clearly identified DPS as a position in which they require the most depth. Overwatch teams are allowed a squad featuring a maximum of 12 players, meanig that the Shock does have room to make one more signining, however that appears unlikely at this stage of the offseason.

Whe the Shock Made Their Move for Glister

The Shock, who are the first back-to-back Overwatch League winners, will undoubtedly be hoping that their latest additions can help fire then to another title. Glister enjoyed a successful rookie season with the Spitfire in 2020, with the DPS player actually being very experienced, having started his professional career in 2018 with X6-Gaming.

Following a disappointing second season with X6 in Korean Contenders, Glister made the switch to Gen.G, with his performances for Seoul Dynasty’s academy team having thrust him into the limelight. It was his move to the London Spitfire where the Korean proved that he could mix it at the highest level in Overwatch, before the flex DPS was eventually released.

Can San Francisco Keep Their Roster Happy?

The fact that it was the Shock who signed the teenager came as a surprise to many, especially given the fact that the news came just days after the arrival of Nero. The Shock are seemingly stockpilling the best DPS talent in the hope of making it three consecutive championships, with their flexibility now meanig that they can deal with any meta shift.
San Francisco may face problems in keeping all of their players happy in terms of playing time, with it remaining to be seen as to who will make their starting lineup for the new season. Glister and Nero will join fellow DPS players Sean Taiyo “ta1yo” Henderson, Seonchang “ANS” Lee and Minki “Viol2t” Park.
