Summary:
  • Virtus.pro is shaking things up for their offlane position by swapping out Daxak for SabeRLight just before DreamLeague Season 27.
  • The decision to bring in SabeRLight is part of a strategy of Virtus.pro to make successful comebacks after some not-so-good tournament results this season.

Virtus.pro, the legendary Dota 2 team from Eastern Europe, has made the decision to switch up their offlane player by saying farewell to Daxak and welcoming SabeRLight- into the team. Over the years, Virtus.pro has built a long history of success with many great players. But adding SabeRLight might just be the beginning of a new era that will allow them to regain their dominance in Dota 2.

Who is SabeRLight?

Jonáš “SabeRLight-” Volek is a professional Dota 2 offlaner and has been playing competitively since way back with Hippomaniacs. SabeRLight is known for having an adaptable playstyle along with a strong offlane presence. This allowed him to create an exceptional reputation globally and play for many teams such as Team Liquid, Shopify Rebellion, and TSM.

Prior to joining Virtus.pro, he used to be a member of Team Liquid. Here, he had a fantastic year with several tournament wins, one of which was PGL Wallachia Seasons 3 & 4.

Even after having a tough time at The International this year, he still managed to keep up his skills by stinting in AVULUS in order to keep himself in shape for the transfer.

Team Changes in Virtus.pro

Before the DreamLeague Season 27, Virtus.pro made some pretty big changes to their team lineup. One of the most important moves is replacing their offlaner position.

They’ve brought in SabeRLighT, who recently played with Team Liquid and AVULUS, as the new offlaner to take over the spot previously held by Nikita “Daxak” Kuzmin. This change is part of Virtus.pro’s efforts to improve the quality of their competition after numerous early exits from tournaments this season.

Priority Candidate for Offlane Position

SabeRLighT was a top candidate for Virtus.pro because many of the players and the coaches were already well acquainted with him and his gameplay. Specifically, he has already played with Abed and Fly before while at Shopify Rebellion. Thus, it should be an easy transition into the new lineup for him.

Implications for DreamLeague Season 27

SabeRLight’s addition to Virtus.pro’s roster is an essential move for DreamLeague Season 27. The success of this tournament will reflect both positively and negatively on the structure of the roster. Additionally, it will determine how Virtus.pro’s future season will play out in terms of their potential invitations to subsequent major tournaments.

How well he gets along with other Virtus.pro players is something that will help him fit in with the team. Moreover, this cohesiveness is really important because Virtus.pro wants to do better than they have recently, when they ended up missing out on two consecutive years of TI qualification.

Conclusion

Bringing on SabeRLight to take over the offlane position for Virtus.pro is creating excitement and renewed hope. At this point in time, DreamLeague Season 27 is right around the corner. But with SabeRLight onboard, the organization should have all the necessary tools to bounce back after a difficult year. It sounds like this new roster can do well. But, the true test will be once they get to the tournament stage and try and reclaim their position as one of the top teams in Dota 2.
