The group stage of the ongoing Roobet Cup has come to a conclusion, with eight of the 16 initial competitors advancing to the playoffs.

By far, the biggest upset was registered in Group A, where FaZe Clan failed to win the group and OG failed to qualify. However, the rest of the groups had their fair share of surprises too.

Qualified teams

Because of the competitive format, only two teams per group advanced to the Roobet Cup playoffs. Here’s what happened in each of the four groups.

Group A

In Group A, the final situation looks like this:

  • 1st place: BIG
  • 2nd place: FaZe Clan
  • 3rd place: OG
  • 4th place: Entropiq

It seems that the addition of Fatih “gob b” Dayik and Karim “Krimbo” Moussa to the roster has had a substantial impact on BIG’s performance. The German team went from being ranked 19th to being ranked 11th in just a few months. If they continue like this, they may even become a top 10 CS:GO team soon.

Unfortunately for OG, they ran into FaZe Clan twice at this tournament and were bested both times.

Group B

As everyone expected, Cloud9 and Astralis were the winners of Group B. The direct match between these two teams proved that C9 is much stronger at this point and will likely play in the Grand Final.

Group C

In Group C, ENCE won the race, as was expected, but not as easy as everyone hoped. They needed three maps in each of their matches and were quite close to losing against Eternal Fire. This opponent proved to be surprisingly strong and actually ended up qualifying for the playoffs after a well-deserved victory against MOUZ.

Group D

Group D was full of upsets. The opening matches were won by the underdogs, forZe and 9z, which meant that Outsiders and FURIA had to play against each other in the elimination match. ForZe went on to win the winners’ match, while 9z went on to cause another upset by eliminating FURIA.

Quarterfinals seeding

The Quarterfinals of Roobet Cup take place on June 27 and June 28. The matches will be the following:

  • BIG vs. Eternal Fire
  • Cloud9 vs. 9z
  • ENCE vs. FaZe Clan
  • forZe vs. Astralis

All of the matches are worth watching but the most exciting ones will probably be matches two and three. Given the theoretical skill difference between C9 and their opponent, Dimitriy “sh1ro” Sokolov and his crew should advance to the semifinals with ease. But the truth is that nobody knows how strong 9z actually are.

As for FaZe vs. ENCE, this could easily end up being the Grand Final of the Roobet Cup.
