After the bracket reset follows the sweep from Sector One and thus their victory in the European League Finals. In the Grand Final, the team from the Netherlands defeated ERN ROAR from Germany and secured €2,750 in prize money.

Sector One qualified third for the international competition via the Elite Summer Series (BeNeLux league). However, as the season progressed, ViolentPanda (retired as a pro) and Carca played, while in the ELF 2022 TehQoz was the third man on the team.

Swiss Stage with problems

The first round of the Swiss Stage was tough, there wasn’t a single 2-3 or 3-2. All teams split either 3-1 or 3-0. From Sector One’s point of view, it started very bitterly, the team lost to MASONIC from Denmark 1:5 and subsequently had to give up the entire series due to cable problems with Gekk’s controller. In the second game it was against DIVE Esports from Switzerland, which were then swept 3-0 thanks to a quick visit to the supermarket including cable shopping.

In the third game against the Danish representatives Den Sovsede Børnehave it became more difficult. The Danes took a 1-0 lead in the series, then in the second game there was an overtime that only lasted a few seconds before Sector One secured a 3-2 win there. In the following two games, Sector One dominated the game, first winning 2-1 and then 5-3.

As a result, the team was positive for the first time in the Swiss Stage (2-1) and was able to secure a spot for the playoffs in the fourth game. In this fourth round, Sector One defeated Ascence (Sweden) 3-2.

Playoffs

But Sector One wouldn’t be Sector One if there hadn’t been more chaos that evening. This time it was Tehqoz’s PC that caused problems and wouldn’t start anymore. In the round of 16 the next day, however, little of this was noticeable.

The team kept their cool with a 3-0 sweep against Rotaryon Esports from Norway. Two overtimes went to Sector One after just under a minute, before a clear 5:2 was achieved in the third game.

In the quarter-finals, the task should then become more difficult. Morekats Gaming from the German Nitroleague had to oppose a roster with Tox, Rezears and Rizex45, which is also known in the international scene. Even if the players are not active in the RLCS in this combination, Sector One was warned about them.

Regardless of those facts, Sector One went 2-0 up in the series. In the third game, Morekats turned up the heat, secured a 1-0 lead and was also decisive in the fourth game of the series. Morekats took the lead after 90 seconds and was able to defend the lead until two seconds before the end. The equalizer followed and after 28 seconds overtime victory in the game and in the series for Sector One.

In the semifinals, Sector One met Den Sovsede Børnehave again and again the team went 3-1. Victory meant placing in the top three teams of the tournament and qualifying for the third day of the tournament.

In the Upper Bracket Final, Sector One lost 4-1 to Nitroleague winner ERN ROAR, only to see Morekats Gaming in third place in the Lower Bracket Final with the same result.

Grand Final

ERN ROAR picked up where they left off in the Upper Bracket Final and took a 2-0 lead in the series. In the third game then the narrow 1:0 victory for Sector One and the 2-1 connection in the series. Three thrilling games followed, which always went to Sector One in overtime. With that, the Dutch team secured the bracket reset.

In the second game, Sector One picked up the momentum and played better and better. ERN ROAR managed just three goals over the entire series and Sector One shot up 14 goals to a clean sweep and tournament champions of the 2022 European League Finals.
