Rocket League EWC 2026 Opens With Vitality, Falcons and Karmine Corp

The Rocket League tournament at the Esports World Cup 2026 begins on August 12, bringing 16 international teams to Paris for five days of competition and a $1 million prize pool.

The group stage opens with eight matches across two groups. Karmine Corp enters as the defending champion, while Team Falcons, Team Vitality, FURIA, NRG and several other established organizations are also chasing the title.

The tournament runs through August 16, when the new EWC Rocket League champion will be crowned.

16 teams begin the fight in Paris

The opening phase splits the field into two groups of eight teams.

Group play uses a double-elimination structure designed to reduce the field from 16 teams to eight. Four teams from each group will eventually qualify for the playoff stage.

That creates little room for slow starts. Teams may have a second opportunity after losing an early series, but the structure quickly puts struggling rosters under pressure.

The first matches begin at 13:00 CEST on August 12, with the opening schedule continuing throughout the afternoon and early evening.

Vitality and FURIA headline Group A

One of the most interesting matches on the first day is FURIA against Team Vitality.

Vitality enters the EWC with Brice “ExoTiiK” Bigeard, who already knows what it takes to win this competition after becoming an EWC champion in 2024.

The French organization also has another incentive beyond the Rocket League trophy. A strong performance could help Vitality in the wider Esports World Cup Club Championship, where organizations earn points across multiple games.

NRG is another team carrying significant expectations. The organization won the Rocket League World Championship in 2025 but has struggled to reproduce that level consistently since then.

Karmine Corp attempts to defend its EWC crown

Karmine Corp enters the tournament with perhaps the clearest storyline.

The French organization is attempting to become the first Rocket League team to win consecutive Esports World Cup titles. Its roster has changed since the previous championship, but Axel “Vatira” Touret and Tristan “Atow” Soyez remain central pieces of the lineup.

Charles “juicy” Sabiani has joined them for the 2026 campaign.

Playing in Paris also gives Karmine Corp a potential home advantage. French Rocket League crowds have developed a reputation for producing some of the scene’s strongest atmospheres, and KC recently reinforced its status as a major contender by winning the RLCS Paris Major.

Another EWC title would strengthen Karmine Corp’s claim as one of the defining Rocket League teams of the current competitive period.

Their first obstacle is Wildcard in Group B.

Falcons bring another championship threat

Team Falcons should also be closely watched.

The organization finished third at the previous Esports World Cup and has since strengthened its roster with Samy “Dralii” Hajji, who previously played for Karmine Corp.

Dralii brings significant EWC experience. His move also creates a potential rivalry with his former team if Falcons and Karmine Corp meet later in the bracket.

The tournament carries additional importance for the organization because Rocket League awards points toward the overall EWC Club Championship. The Rocket League winner receives 1,000 Club Championship points, meaning a deep Falcons run could influence the larger race between multi-game organizations.

$400,000 awaits the champion

The overall Rocket League prize pool stands at $1 million.

The eventual champion receives $400,000 as well as the maximum Club Championship points available from the tournament. Beyond the financial reward, the event sits in an important position on the competitive calendar.

The group stage runs before the playoff bracket takes over during the weekend, creating a compact tournament in which teams must adapt quickly.

For organizations preparing for the next major stages of the Rocket League season, the EWC also provides another high-level international test against many of the world’s strongest lineups.
