What is the Rocket League Championship Series?

After months of qualifying tournaments, Rocket League Championship Series (RLCS) is set for the World Championship stage. Be ready for a series of thrilling and exciting matches for the World title. This year’s tournament prize pool is in the staggering amount of $1,165,000 USD to be distributed among teams. 

16 of the top global teams from seven different regions will take the battle in Fort Worth, Texas. The tournament will begin on September 10, 2024, and will conclude on September 15, 2024. 

Qualified Teams by Region

This year’s RLCS World Championship Series 2024 will have seven different regions participating. North America and Europe were able to secure four spots, while South America, MENA, and Oceania got two slots each. Asia-Pacific and Sub-Saharan Africa secured 1 slot each to complete the 16 teams. Expect fierce competition in the upcoming RLCS World Championship Series 2024. North America remains to be a powerhouse in the esports scene of Rocket League. G2 Stride, Gen. G Mobil 1 Racing, Spacestation Gaming, and OG Esports will give a tough fight to showcase the immense talent depth of their region. 

Meanwhile, Europe looks forward to bringing spectacular matches to the World Championship. With Gentle Mates Alpine, they’re off to a great start, as the team has been showing impressive form throughout the tournament. Meanwhile, Team BDS and Team Vitality serve as threats, as they are known to be dangerous contenders among the teams. Lastly, the consistent performers at Majors and Worlds, Karmine Corp will also take a shot for the title. 

South America, MENA, and Oceanie are seeking to establish their regions in the league with their representatives. FURIA Esports and Team Secret want to make their mark on the global stage to prove that SA can compete with the best.

The roster change in MENA’s Team Falcons did not affect the team, as they remain a top contender in the RLCS World Championship 2024. They will compete for MENA along with team Anything to make an impressive feat.

PWR and QuikTrip Pioneers Gaming of Oceania aim to put the OCE region on the map. They will pose a challenge in the quest of the dominating regions of NA and EU. While Gaimin Gladiators carries the hopes of the growing Rocket League APAC community. The same goes for the sole representative of Sub-Saharan Africa, Limitless, who seeks to secure their region another slot. 

Tournament Format

The RLCS 2024 World Championship will have two splits to level up the excitement in the tournament. From September 10 to September 13, 2024, all 16 teams will compete in the Swiss-system tournament. These teams have to win three matches before they lose three to move into the playoffs. This stage will be closed to the public. 

A hybrid elimination stage will take place from September 14–15, 2024. In this stage, only the top 8 teams from the Swiss Stage will be able to compete. This stage serves as a refreshing change in the tournament format. It combines some of the elements from double and single elimination brackets.
