Version1 defeated Gen.G Mobil1 Racing 4-3 in Sunday’s Grand Final of the second North American RLCS regional, the Fall Cup. Although Gen.G lost the second Grand Final in a row, they became the first team to qualify for the Major in Rotterdam.
With two finals appearances, Gen.G garnered enough RLCS points to qualify for the Major as the top team in the NA rankings, after making their debut season in North America.

Hard start
Version1 and Gen.G did not have to go through the closed qualifier thanks to their placement in rankings, however, both teams struggled in the Swiss Stage and had to go into the fifth round. Although they were the last-placed teams in the swiss stage leaderboards, they managed to jump into the knockout phase.
In the quarterfinals, Gen.G encountered FaZe Clan, a repeat of the Fall Open Grand Final, but this time, they beat FaZe 4-3. Version1 defeated FURIA with a similar score of 4-3 thanks to BeastMode’s nine goals.
In the semifinals, Gen.G let Spacestation Gaming drown in despair with a solid team performance and strong defensive work, claiming the spot in the Grand Final with a 4-1 score. But the other semi-final was much closer. Version1 went into overtime three times against NRG, and three times the winner was Version1. All in all, the 4-1 was a pretty clear result. But instead of a strong defense, it was a total of 49 demos that decided the game in favor of Version1.

This number of demos represents a North American record and second place overall in the RLCS. Only the South African player Snowyy has destroyed more opponents in one game with 23 demos.
Grand Final
Gen.G started the Grand Final furiously with a 5-0. Version1’s Torment stayed under 100 points throughout the game, but the team quickly shook that off and won two games in a row. The logical consequence was a timeout for Gen.G, but this brought a high-scoring game and another overtime win for Version1.
This game already showed that Gen.G changed something in their offensive. There were significantly more shots on goal from Version1, reaching match point twice. Gen.G managed to smash this both times and with it, equalize the series 3-3. Both games went into overtime, lasting a total of 8:37 minutes.
Version1 used their timeout before Game Seven. A game at eye level followed, with two goals within seven seconds for both teams. In overtime, Beastmode put the crown on with his goal after 66 seconds. This marks the first win in a regional for Version1 since late February against NRG.
