Riyadh Masters Group Stage Results

After numerous matches, the group stage of Riyadh Masters 2024 is finally over and the results shouldn’t surprise anyone. They could have been different but not that much different.

Most of the favorites confirmed their strength and left no doubt that they are here to win. But there’s only one trophy and lots of great rosters.

Group A Results

In group A, Team Falcons, Team Spirit, Gaimin Gladiators, and OG claimed the upper bracket spots for the playoffs. Because of Team Falcons’ disastrous start, they were separated by a single point.

Spirit, Gladiators, and OG finished with a record of 8 W – 6 L, while Falcons had a record of 9 W – 5 L after going 0 W – 4 L on day 1. Nobody knows what happened on that day but what’s important is that skiter and his teammates recovered immediately after.

The two eliminated teams were HEROIC and Blacklist International. Both of them finished with five points and were not that far from the other competitors. Perhaps with a bit more training or luck, they too could have advanced to the playoffs.

Aurora and LGD Gaming finished 5^th and 6^th respectively. Both of them lost a single match of the seven, so it’s hard to say that they were a lot weaker than the top four competitors. In a best-of-three, anything could happen.

What’s strange about this group is that Team Falcons won while having two match defeats. The only teams with two or more match defeats in this group were HEROIC and Blacklist International. OG and Team Spirit finished undefeated, with a record of 1 W – 6 D – 0 L.

In group B of Riyadh Masters 2024, Tundra Esports and Entity played better than expected. We knew they would likely be in the top four or at least the top six, but their win rates were very impressive: 11 W – 3 L.

Tundra did not lose a single match but drew three times. Entity lost one but drew just once, winning five best-of-two matches against opponents like BetBoom Team, Team Liquid, PSG Quest, and beastcoast. Imagine playing against this team in a best-of-three.

This group stage result clearly makes them one of the biggest favorites at this point. If they manage to win their first playoffs match, against Gladiators, they should easily secure a top-three result overall.

The other top-four teams in group B were Liquid and WBG.XG. PSG Quest and BetBoom secured lower-bracket spots. Beastcoast and MOUZ were eliminated.
