A change that had a major impact on League of Legends may be reverted in the next updates. This is because, according to a Rioter in a post on Reddit, this change was revoked internally and we may see the return of rotations before the 14 minutes.
Roaming, which is nothing more than leaving the mid lane to help an ally or perform a gank in a side lane, was completely destroyed by Riot Games in mid-2023, but now, in a recent post on Reddit, a Rioter explained the change and that it will probably be reverted in the next League of Legends update patches. However, Riot has not officially commented on the situation. In other words, we only have as a basis the comment from a Rioter on the official League of Legends subreddit, which is already an unofficial confirmation.
Rioter explained the change in a comment on the Reddit post “One change I didn’t see
written in the patch notes is that the timing of minions crashing into towers was adjusted for 14.22. In the middle of Season 13, we adjusted side lane minions to move faster before the 14 minute mark, so that waves would meet at the same time as mid. This was done to reduce the power of roams, but it was perhaps too effective.
This change is now considered one of the main reasons ADCs have become so popular in pro play: mid roaming was nerfed so hard by the wave timing change, so champions who wanted to rotate (i.e. non-ADCs) lost some of their power as a result.

In 14.22, we’re re-adjusting minion timings: the first few waves will be synchronized, but on the sides, they’ll gradually slow down until 14 minutes (so they don’t instantly slow down at 14 minutes). This means that the chance to roam in LoL will increase in the first 14 minutes – so ganking at levels 2/3 won’t be as effective, but roaming for half the laning phase will be a possibility again.”
When will the change come into effect and how could it impact LoL?
The change mentioned by the Rioter should officially hit the servers in the next League of Legends update, patch 14.22, which will hit the official servers on November 6, 2024. Although it may seem like a small change, this change to the game could be quite significant,
