Good intentions, better rewards. Riot Games’ latest attempt to motivate players for good behavior in League of Legends includes the new Three Honors skin line only for honorable summoners.

While League has its honor system, that may not be enough of an incentive for some to adhere to the code of conduct. That’s why Riot is introducing a new line of skins that aims to motivate players to stay non-toxic throughout their games.

A sign against Flamer

Riot’s Behavioral Systems Product Lead Hana “TimTamMonster” Dinh revealed that Malzahar will be first in the Three Honors free skin series. The skin can be earned by reaching the Honor level five before the end of the 2022 season. Up until now, there were orbs for honor levels that could be opened in the hextech workshop. Moreover, there were also Medieval Twitch and Gray Warwick skins, however, they didn’t feel very special, but rather outdated, as everyone has them.

That’s why Gray Warwick along with Medieval Twitch Chroma rewards will be replaced by skins from the Three Honors line. However, Riot has confirmed that these Chromas will still be available via Honor five capsules.

Furthermore, according to TimTamMonster, Riot plans to introduce a feature that will allow players to report others mid-game instead of waiting for the post-game lobby. Riot is also supposedly working on a “premade only chat” that will allow players to communicate only with teammates they’re queuing up with.

No to toxicity

To prevent players from exploiting the new honor system, Riot hasn’t revealed all the details yet. What they did reveal is how honor is calculated. It’s pretty easy — the more positive you behave, the faster you earn Honor Points.

Players also receive more points for being honored by in-game teammates than by premade teammates. Moreover, honor from high-ranked solo and flex teammates is worth more than honor from regular game teammates, with ARAM honor being the least valuable.

LOL Honor level 5

Sadly, toxicity is an omnipresent part of the internet and online gaming is a great example of that. Riot Games has made it clear time and time again that they are trying to combat toxic behavior in their games, however, their efforts haven’t been very successful so far.

The reporting and ban systems in League of Legends can sometimes seem a bit opaque, causing players to doubt their effectiveness. Hopefully, we will soon see a shift away from the Flame culture and towards a social, understanding community that doesn’t take out the frustrations of everyday life on poor randoms.
