While it is true that we had some days full of uncertainty about what would happen with the LCS, Riot Games, and the LCSPA reached an agreement in the last hours to start the Summer Split 2023. As a result, the LCS will have, as has been customary in history, its participants in the upcoming Worlds 2023.

There is no doubt that this is great news not only for the organizations and starting players of the teams but also for those at the Challengers level, as the agreement signed between Riot and the LCSPA revolves around them.

Riot Games announce the start of LCS Summer Split 2023

A few hours ago, Riot Games announced that the Summer Split 2023 starts next Wednesday, June 14, 2023, after reaching an agreement with the LCSPA.

Recall that Riot Games decided to delay the start of the LCS Summer Split due to the ongoing player strike. However, Riot stressed that if an agreement was not reached within two weeks, the Summer Split would be canceled, and the LCS would not play the upcoming Worlds 2023.

After this week’s delay, the LCS Summer Split 2023 matches will be played at 20:00 CEST (01:00 PM CT) three days a week (Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday). In addition, the matches will be played for eight consecutive weeks.

Finally, Riot assured that these changes to the start date do not prevent the LCS Finals from being played between August 19-20, 2023.

Much uncertainty in the last few days

There is no doubt that uncertainty was gripping the community and the players themselves since the vote was made to go on strike by the players. As a result, neither the fans nor the organizations nor even Riot Games knew when the Summer Split would start.

While it is true that the LCSPA had several unmet demands from Riot, the NACL was granted additional funding to stay afloat. This and a few more details were released in an official statement by Riot Games, where the Summer Split start date was also announced.

LCS Summer Split 2023

As we mentioned, starting next June 14 and for the next eight weeks (with three weekly matches), the LCS Summer Split 2023 will take place.

As it has been in recent times, the matches should continue to be the same way, talking about the schedule. In addition, we must remember that the match that will kick off this Split will be the rematch of the Spring Split finals between Cloud9 and Golden Guardians.

Finally, the LCS is expected to announce the complete schedule of the Summer Split 2023 in the coming hours. In addition, information regarding how the LCS Championship 2023 will be played is also pending.
