Riot Games announced the schedule, prize pool, and format for the upcoming TFT Dragonlands Championship. From November 18-20, Riot’s Teamfight Tactics will host its fifth world championship, featuring an improved competitive structure and bigger prize pool.

Riot has introduced several major changes to the upcoming TFT Dragonlands Championship including an updated format and a larger prize pool. A $150,000 first-place prize will be awarded for the championship, which is much higher than the $48,000 prize awarded to LiLuo for taking first place in the Gizmos & Gadgets Championship. In comparison with the previous world championship, Dragonlands has raised the total prize pool from $300,000 to $456,000, with a substantial chunk going to the two top spots.

In addition to the prize pool and format adjustments, the fifth world championship will take the LCQ a step further, adding the Eastern region Last Chance qualifier which will feature players from China, Korea, OCE, and Japan. The details for each region’s world championship qualifiers are available on Riot’s official website, however, at this time, Riot hasn’t disclosed any information regarding regional seedings.

TFT Dragonlands Championship Format

A total of 32 players from around the world will qualify for the TFT Dragonlands Championship through TFT Set 7.5 and Uncharted Realms. The 32 qualified players will be split into separate lobbies and play 5 games on day one. Unlike the Gizmos & Gadgets World Championship, where the competitors were cut in half at predetermined intervals, the Dragonalands Champions format will allow all the 32 players to advance to Day 2 and play at least 10 games before any elimination.

The competing 32 players will play an extra five games with a cut to the Top 8 on Day 2, with all points scored on Day 1 moving to Day 2. The top 8 players after day two will, however, play in a severe Checkmate format on day three, with their points reset. The competition will end and the winner will be announced once a player has accrued 18 points and won a game in check.

Amde secured the  first direct invite to TFT Worlds

Amde has received the first direct invitation to the Teamfight Tactics World Championship after the Dragonlands Set Seven Mid-Set Finale, which featured 32 North American TFT players competing for spots at Regionals and Worlds, came to a conclusion on August 21. After a disappointing performance at Jade Cup and Astral Cup, Amde came out hot at the  Mid-Set Finale, crushing his North American rivals through his consistent playstyle. Over the course of the 18 games he played at the competition, he only got one eighth-place finish.
