With the recent news of the $2M Fortnite Zero Build tournament to be played as part of the Gamers8 2023 event, one of the biggest esports brands in the world, Red Bull, has announced the first major LAN-based Fortnite event in the UK, which goes by the name RedBull Contested.

This continues the overall idea of bringing back the Fortnite competitive scene globally. Also, the fact that a brand as well known as Red Bull decides to support and sponsor an event of great magnitude can go a long way.

Red Bull Gaming announces RedBull Contested

A few hours ago, Red Bull’s official Twitter account announced the first major LAN format Fortnite event in the UK, the RedBull Contested. In this tournament, the best players of this magnificent BR from Epic Games will fight in an unprecedented event.

According to the official press release from the organizers, the most recognized professional players who have received a direct invitation are:

  • Martin “MrSavage” Foss Andersen
  • Harry “Veno” Pearson
  • Thomas “Th0masHD” Høxbro Davidsen
  • Jaden “Wolfiez” Ashman
  • Zachariah “Pinq” Siddall

The RedBull Contested will take place next June 10, 2023, and will be played, as we mentioned, in LAN format at McEwan Hall, located in Edinburgh, the beautiful capital of Scotland. On the other hand, it is also noted that there will be 100 players participating in this tournament, which will be played in Solo mode.

RedBull Contested Format

The tournament organizers announce a solo format for this event, allowing the best players in the world to compete against each other to demonstrate their capabilities. The 100 players play in eight intense rounds that will undoubtedly leave a lot of emotions.

On the other hand, there is a change in the traditional points system in Fortnite tournaments. According to the organizers, each casualty or elimination will add double points in the last four rounds. Undoubtedly, this will make all players adopt a much more aggressive game in the final rounds, guaranteeing a spectacular tournament closing.

In addition to the professional players attending the event directly, open online qualifiers will be held on May 20 and 21. However, these qualifiers will be for UK and EU players only, giving amateur players a chance to go head-to-head against the best players in the world.

Other invited players

In addition to the five superstars we mentioned above who were invited to the tournament, we will have some European talents on the scene. For example, we have Jackson “Eomzo” Fretz, who is a six-time FNCS finalist, Reuben “Nebs” Belisle, and Aleksa “Queasy” Cvetkovic.

On the other hand, we will also have the pleasure of observing the likes of Alexandre “Andilex” Christophe and Sebastian “Trippernn” Sommer Kjaer, the latter belonging to the esports division of the popular club Manchester City.

Wolfiez, one of the most respected players in the scene, commented that this is a great opportunity for players to enjoy a high-level tournament in the UK.
