Razer unveils new face mask with sound amplifier at CES 2022

fragster 7. January 2022

The Consumer Electronics Show 2022 tech trade show in Las Vegas is in full swing right now, introducing us to exciting new products every day. Now Razer has announced the Razer Zephyr Pro at CES 2022, which was already released last October as Project Hazel. The product is an innovative mask that catapults the normal OP or FFP2 mask to a whole new level.

Since we may still need to wear masks in the future to protect ourselves from infections and viruses, some companies have now taken the mask to task and tried to improve some things about it. In the case of the Razer Zephyr Pro, it’s all about comfort and finally solving the problem that many people have had since the Corona pandemic: It’s sometimes really hard to understand each other with the mask on your face.

Innovative solution

Like many of its other products, Razer integrated its Chroma RGB lighting on the inside and outside of the mask. While wearing the Zephyr mask, you can use controllable fans to improve airflow through two of the three air chambers. Although many of the designs from Project Hazel have been incorporated into the Zephyr, the sound amplifier was considered too complicated to actually introduce. It also comes with three days of N95 filters, or 11 days if you purchase the Zephyr Starter Pack.

With the introduction of the Zephyr Pro, a sound amplifier is now included after all, making it easier for other people to hear the wearer through the mask, which is pretty handy in everyday life- Razer hasn’t said that the mask will have it at launch, but the company is aiming for voice modulation for those who want to sound like Bane or Darth Vader.

Pricing for the Zephyr Pro starts at $200, making it $50 more expensive than the standard Zephyr. Like the standard Zephyr, the Pro mask comes with a starter pack that includes 33 sets of N95 filters for each of the mask’s three air chambers. This amount is enough for 33 days of continuous use before additional filters are needed. The mask will be available sometime later this year.

Other interesting products

Also recently unveiled at CS 2022 was a device called the Novento N1, which gives users privacy while listening to music, just like headphones, but at the same time has no headphones at all and works only with sound waves. With so many exciting new products, we’re excited to see what else will be unveiled at the show in the coming days.
