Roman “RAMZES666” Kushnarev returns to Virtus.pro after playing for multiple other teams since leaving in 2019. The Russian Dota2 aims to continue his old successes with the new line-up. Furthermore, Virtus.pro is also in dire need of success.

Over the past few years, the 23-year-old player has moved from team to team with mixed results. Now, together with Virtus.pro, he is trying to regain some of his former glory.

RAMZES returns

Initially, RAMZES666 joined the Virtus.pro in 2016. His greatest success came two years later in 2018 when the team dominated both Dota 2 Majors that took place that year, as well as multiple other events. This includes a first-place finish at ESL One Katowice and ESL One Birmingham, as well as the playoff finish in The International 2018.

RAMZES666 left Virtus.pro in September 2019 to join Evil Geniuses, with no significant successes during his time with the team. He then left EG for NAVI in 2021, however, the transfer didn’t work out well for RAMZES as NAVI had a particularly bad season and didn’t even qualify for The International that year. After only four months with NAVI, RAMZES666 joined CIS Rejects and with his help, the team managed to advance to EEU DPC Division 1.

In an official statement, RAMZES666 commented on his signing:

“VP is my home, the one I have a lot of good memories with. We have achieved a lot together, and now it’s time to make a new story. I have had a chance to meet the guys from the current roster and we got along pretty well. We are all eager to play and win. Stay tuned and follow our games!”

New team, old organization

The team that RAMZES666 is now joining faced multiple setbacks in the past year and is now hoping to recover with his help. After last year’s 5th-6th finish at The International, the young roster underwent major changes, moving Illias “illias” Ganeev and Vitalie “Save-” Melnic to their inactive line-up. The latest change saw the team parting ways with the Russian newcomer Ivan “Pure” Moskalenko.

Pure was let go from the organization because he had drawn a militaristic “Z” symbol on the game’s mini-map during the live EEU Dota Pro Circuit Playoffs match. The “Z” symbol has long been used by the Russian military, which includes the use of the symbol on its vehicles in the ongoing invasion of Ukraine. This resulted in the squad’s disqualification from the tournament and Virtus.Pro making changes to both, its Dota 2 roster and management.

Furthermore, the team had been forced to play under the outsider’s banner due to its ties to the Russian government.

Here’s the current Virtus.pro line-up:

  • RAMZES666
  • Dmitry “DM” Dorokhin
  • Egor “Xakoda” Lipartiya
  • Daniyal “yamich” Lazebnyy
  • Danil “gpk~” Skutin
