Manchester United and England Soccer player Jesse Lingard has acquired Audacity Esports, an organization that competes in Ubisoft UK & Ireland Nationals (UKIN) Rainbow Six Siege competition. The team will now be re-branded as Jlingz Esports, having been competing under the banner of “Team JLE” of late.

The team will battle it out in the UKIN Second Division, as they look to become one of the region’s biggest Rainbow Six Siege rosters, as well as qualifying for the 2022 European Challenger League. The news broke during the UKIN Finals over the weekend, with both team Captain Sam, as well as Lingard himself, having been present.

What Lingard said on the deal

Speaking on the announcement, Lingard stated that: “To finally dive into esports and add my own teams to Jlingz is incredible. Esports has everything for me – it’s fast paced and competitive, the community is amazing and it’s been great to have Ubisoft’s support on this journey too.” “My Jlingz brand has been growing for a number of years but to finally dive into esports and add my own teams to Jlingz is incredible. Esports has everything for me – it’s fast paced and competitive, the community is amazing and it’s been great to have Ubisoft’s support on this journey too. Watch this space, Jlingz Esports is going all the way!”

Meanwhile, Ubisoft UK Esports marketing manager, Will Atwood, stated that: “We’re thrilled to have Jesse Lingard on board and look forward to someone who knows all about competing at the highest level bringing his expertise to the UK and Irish scene. Rainbow Six Esports and the UK & Ireland Nationals are going from strength-to-strength; to have someone as well-known and respected as Jesse Lingard involved is a testament to the game’s enduring popularity within the local esports community.”

How the Rainbow Six Esports Global Circuit works

The UK and Ireland Nationals is part of the Ubisoft Rainbow Six Esports Global Circuit, which features a host of several different divisions, where the top teams move into the European Challenger League. The season finals took place over the weekend, with Navi having overcome MNM Gaming to win the main prize. Viperio had already secured their place in the European Challenger League, with more info on the UKIN Second Division expected to be announced shortly.

Jesse Lingard becomes the latest England international to get involved in Esports, joining the likes of Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Harry Maguire.
