Undoubtedly, some players and even the Head Coach can be fundamental to a team’s overall performance. It is not that they will do all the work, but that the team can play with better harmony and, undoubtedly, facilitates the arrival of victories.

We are currently experiencing a clear example of this with FaZe Clan. For the star rifle in the CS:GO competitive scene, Håvard “rain” Nygaard and Head Coach Robert “RobbaN” Dahlström have returned to the active lineup of FaZe Clan.

Rain and RobbaN return to FaZe

In the last few hours, FaZe Clan has posted on its official Twitter account that Rain is returning to the team’s starting lineup, as is RobbaN as Head Coach.

These returns come just in time for FaZe’s debut in the IEM Katowice 2023 Group Stage starting tomorrow, February 4. Recall that this team has a chance to take home the title of the fourth season of the Intel Grand Slam.

Rain was away from the servers for several weeks and missed the BLAST Premier Spring Groups due to the birth of his first child. On the other hand, RobbaN did not attend the tournament, citing personal reasons. During Rain’s absence, FaZe played with stand-in Patrick “es3tag” Hansen and Edward Han as temporary coaches.

The team did well in the BLAST Premier Spring Groups. However, the return of Rain and RobbaN is a luxury for the team that comes with the dream of winning the Intel Grand Slam. The only teams that can stop FaZe are Heroic, G2, and Team Vitality.

FaZe is one win away from winning the Intel Grand Slam

FaZe has been tasting the Intel Grand Slam victory for several months, specifically since IEM Cologne 2022 in July. Remember that FaZe won IEM Katowice 2022, ESL Pro League S15, and PGL Major Antwerp. However, the latter does not count because the Intel Grand Slam only considers those Tier-S tournaments organized by the ESL.

The team was focused on preparing for IEM Katowice 2023. So much so that they didn’t even practice with Rain before the BLAST Premier Spring Groups, Finn “karrigan” Andersen reported in an interview. The last time FaZe won a Tier-S tournament was at IEM Cologne 2022, when they beat Navi in the final.

We do not yet know FaZe Clan’s opponent in the first match of the Group Stage of IEM Katowice 2023. However, the match is tomorrow, February 4, at 16:00 CET.

If FaZe fails to take the champions trophy in this magnificent tournament, their chances of winning the Intel Grand Slam will be moved to the ESL Pro League, played between February and March.
