R6 EUL: Three Teams Leading the Charge

With 16 points each, G2, BDS, an Empire have placed at the very top. Even though the tiebreaker dictates this particular ranking order, each team would only need one point to set themselves apart from the rest.

Having 15 points to their name, Natus Vincere are closing in on these three. Vitality have a four points deficit and it seems as though this particular Top 4 is almost guaranteed to attend the Major. It would require quite an effort from the others to break that constellation apart again.

Rogue, unKnights, and Cowana are confirmed to miss the Major. The German team is currently in last place, after the players have failed to even attain one regulation win. Their very close loss to Vitality is their only “success” of recent weeks. Cowana aren’t any better and unKnights can also only boast one single overtime win.

VITALITY, SECRET, AND VP STILL IN REACH OF MAJOR

After the seventh match day, these teams still have the chance of making Top 4. But the road there is challenging and the last month has shown that they have some catching-up to do if they want to contend with the current leading teams. Secret beautifully kicked off their Stage 2 run, but then descended in the rankings bit by bit. It’s barely an accomplishment to have won against unKnights now. Vitality have had to suffer a loss yet again, but at least they managed to force G2 Esports into overtime. Virtus.pro almost managed to beat Empire on a 5-7 scoreline. However, the latter team got the full three points and climbed all the way to third place.

MATCH DAYS 8 & 9: WHO WILL MAKE FIRST PLACE?

For the teams just outside the Top 4, there is one ray of hope: On the last two days, the current Top 4 will spend a lot of time fighting amongst itself. BDS versus NaVi, NaVi versus Empire, Empire versus G2… the frontrunners will have to split a lot of points just between themselves. This gives Vitality a fighting chance to win both encounters and break apart the current leadership front. Nonetheless the distance to the Top 4 is quite high and just one victory on the part of Empire, NaVi, and the rest would crush Vitality’s hopes of making it.

So we’re excited for those last two days. If BDS want to get back to the top of Europe, they have to make a stand right here and now. Otherwise, G2 Esports could steal the show and establish themselves as the best team in the region. After having some starting issues, it looks as though Jordan “Kayak” Morley might have assembled the new European elite. Now they only need a little push to finally prove it.
