PUBG Mobile has rolled out its next big crossover, this time with the horror movie 28 Years Later, arriving in theatres on June 20, 2025. The in-game event is only available for Western European players and runs until July 6. It lets players experience a taste of the film’s dark setting before it’s even released.

Visit Familiar Spots From the Movie

This new collaboration happens inside the World of Wonder mode, where PUBG Mobile now includes a special map based on locations shown in 28 Years Later. Players can walk through the gloomy Causeway, explore Holy Island, or risk heading into the Bone Temple, which really just sounds like a bad idea. These areas were built to match the tone of the movie, capturing the lonely, horror-filled world after the Rage Virus came back.

Movie Weapons Change the Combat Style

Instead of regular loadouts, players can try weapons directly taken from the movie. There are Crossbows, Molotovs, and classic Sniper Rifles. Or you can go up close with a Baseball Bat or Frank’s Machete. All the weapons are meant to bring that same kind of rough, raw survival vibe the film leans into. They’re not flashy, but definitely memorable.

Player-Made Maps Add a New Twist

If exploring isn’t enough, players can make their own maps too. Using the World of Wonder tools, you can design scenes filled with traps, enemies, and objectives that look like something out of a movie. It’s possible to build chaotic maps where players only use bats or can’t escape Bone Temples. The tools give creative players space to build their own versions of what a 28 Years Later sequel might look like.

Mini-Games Offer Unlockables

The event also includes themed mini-games, where players can unlock avatar frames, sprays, and character icons. These cosmetic items don’t give gameplay advantages, but they’re tied to the event and show your involvement. Finding all the Easter eggs scattered across the map is also encouraged before the film goes live.

28 Years Later is the third entry in Danny Boyle and Alex Garland’s iconic horror series, following 28 Days Later (2002) and 28 Weeks Later (2007). Set decades after the original outbreak, the story follows survivors trying to live under strict lockdowns while new dangers begin to rise.
