According to a recent report from Sensor Tower, PUBG Mobile recorded revenue of almost $200 million for the month of September, placing them second worldwide. The majority of such revenue came from China, where the game is known as Peacekeeper Elite. In fact, the Chinese market accounted for 56.5% of total revenue.

A Closer Look at the Figures Surrounding PUBG Mobile

Overall, PUBG Mobile is believed to have risen over 13% in terms of year on year growth, recording a revenue of around $198 million last month alone. Meanwhile, over 12% of the revenue came from the United States. Such statistics are even more impressive when you consider the fact that PUBG Mobile lost its most significant player base outside of china following its ban in India at the beginning of September.

The ban came following an accusation from the Indian Ministry of Electronics and IT that the game had stolen user data using servers outside of the country. However, with India having actually accounted for just 1.2% of the game’s total revenue before the ban, it perhaps comes as no surprise that their revenue did not take too big of a hit.

However, in comparison to previous months, where PUBG Mobile made some $221 million in August, the game actually made less in September. However, such high figures in August can perhaps be put down to the launch of a new season of Peacekeeper Elite. As part of the new season, a Royale Pass is available to purchase, which is why most players spend real money.

PUBG Mobile Still Has Some Way to Go to Catch Up

The highest grossing mobile game in September was Honor of Kings, with the MOBA title from Tencent only being available in a few regions across the globe, including China and Taiwan. Honor of Kings made around $240 million for the month, a figure which is up some 87% from this time last year.
