PUBG Mobile is set to expand beyond its traditional battle royale position. At gamescom 2025, Level Infinite showcased Unfail Mode, an asymmetric survival mode that would enter the franchise with Version 4.0, where one player becomes the Predator, and four others survive.

Unfail offers dark graphics, keep-away mechanics, and teamwork. It stands to be the biggest experiment for PUBG Mobile yet.

What Is PUBG Mobile Unfail Mode?

Unfail Mode is a 5-player asymmetric PvP mode:

  • 1 Predator – a hunter with strong close-range powers.
  • 4 Survivors – a team that works together to escape.

The Predator has the advantage in one-on-one situations. Survivors must stay together as they locate, activate terminals located on the map, and finally, open the escape gate. If the Predator catches one of them alone, they will die quickly.

Unfail looks somewhat similar to Dead by Daylight. But it is set in the PUBG Mobile universe, with the same maps, pacing, and is designed for mobile controls.

Unfail was revealed during Level Infinite’s “Into the Infinite” event at gamescom 2025. A trailer showcased the horror-inspired theme of the mode. Attendees at the event were able to test out the mode in Hall 6.1, where they played as both Predator and Survivors to get a preview of the gameplay. Unfail is part of PUBG Mobile’s plan to expand beyond its battle royale format.

Predator (1 Player):

  • Uses strong melee combat skills.
  • Not as strong at ranged fights.
  • Predator’s goal is to break teams, kill Survivors, and create pressure.

Survivors (4 Players):

  • Have to turn on terminals located across the map.
  • Need to protect each other and have efficiency.
  • After the terminals are completed, players attempt to open the exit gate and escape.

This drives a chase and survival cycle; each game feels like a war of strategy, teamwork, and survival.

Unfail Mode is more than just another mode. PUBG Mobile is trying to expand past just battle royale and become a more versatile platform that incorporates many genres. With Version 4.0 “Spooky Soiree”, users will see new survival mechanics, a different style of play, and modes offered unlike any new gameplay that has come to PUBG Mobile.
