OGA Dota PIT Season 5 China was PSG.LGD’s last tournament before The International 10. Once again, the Chinese squad proved us all wrong. At its previous event, i-League 2021 Season 1, Ame and his crew had had an abysmal performance in the Playoffs, ending the race in 4th place. But now it’s clear that what happened there was a fluke. PSG.LGD is indeed very hard to beat, at least in its own region.

OGA Dota PIT Season 5 China Results

OGA Dota PIT Season 5 China started with a victory for PSG.LGD against one of its most feared rivals: Vici Gaming. The match was not easy and required Faith_bian’s team to make a comeback after losing game 1.

The team’s second match was against Elephant. This time, however, things did not go according to plan. Eurus and the rest of his crew demolished PSG.LGD in two quick games. And their great form was going to continue until the Grand Final. Throughout the entire tournament, fy’s team lost a single match. That’s what makes PSG.LGD’s victory even more impressive.

The rest of the Group Stage was uneventful. The strong defeated the weak and all competitors that were supposed to advance to the Playoffs achieved their goal. These were the final results.

Group A

  • 1st place: Invictus Gaming: 2 W – 1 L
  • 2nd place: Team Aster: 2 W – 1 L
  • 3rd place: Royal Never Give Up: 2 W – 1 L
  • 4th place: Sparking Arrow Gaming: 0 W – 3 L

Group B

  • 1st place: Elephant: 3 W – 0 L
  • 2nd place: PSG.LGD: 2 W – 1 L
  • 3rd place: Vici Gaming: 1 W – 2 L
  • 4th place: Aster.Aries: 0 W – 3 L

Playoffs

The Playoffs of OGA Dota PIT Season 5 China started poorly for PSG.LGD. The team was defeated once again, for the 3rd time in just a few months, by the same deceptively strong competitor: RNG. It seems that Flyby and RedPanda have PSG.LGD’s number and understand exactly how to play against them.

This defeat sent PSG.LGD to the Lower Bracket, where it now had to win 4 consecutive matches to claim the trophy. And the shocking part is that they succeeded in doing exactly that. The only real obstacle during this supposedly difficult road was Vici Gaming. Dy’s team somehow managed to once again win the first game against Ame after a tough battle that lasted 55 minutes. But that’s when everything changed. It’s as if PSG.LGD had a “he’s beginning to believe” moment after that defeat and they became a completely different team.

Games 2 and 3 ended very quickly: 17 minutes and 27 minutes. Then came the next opponent: Aster. Game 1 required 34 minutes to conclude and game 2 was a shocker: less than 14 minutes! Aster practically rage quit after they died to Techies just a couple of times.

The third match was against Invictus Gaming and once again, the games were short and the final score was 2 – 0. Now it was time for the Grand Final, against a supposedly very strong opponent who had defeated PSG.LGD in the Group Stage and had not been defeated up until that point. But it was all over in less than 90 minutes of competitive play, even though this was a Bo5! y` proved once again why he won The International in 2016 with Wings Gaming. His drafts and decisions were on another level.
