Fossil Pokémon have been part of the Pokémon franchise for a long time, and in Pokémon Legends: Z-A you also meet Lumiose City. This guide attempts to show you different ways to acquire fossils, ways to restore fossils, and what Pokémon derive from achievement fossil.
Where can you buy fossils in Lumiose City?

The fossils can be purchased from the Stone Emporium located on Vernal Avenue, beneath the Vernal Pokémon Center. The game allows you to purchase three types of fossil once you start playing:
- Jaw Fossil — 20,000 Poké Dollars
- Sail Fossil — 20,000 Poké Dollars
- Old Amber — 30,000 Poké Dollars
You can get these fossils as you enter the city, however I would encourage waiting on buying them. By waiting you will make it easier to restore the fossils and save money.
How fossil restoration unlocks
Fossil restoration is temporarily closed at the start of the game. You will need to play some of the main story. After you are done completing some trouble of Mega Pokémon, you will unlock a side quest called “Restored from a Fossil” (side quest 27). You can talk with Reg — he will be on the second floor of the Pokémon Research Lab in Southern Lumiose City.
When you speak with Reg, he gives you 20,000 Poké Dollars and asks you to pick up a Sail Fossil or a Jaw Fossil from the store, and then you bring him one fossil, Reg restores it for you, and it is now your Pokémon.
Fossils and which Pokémon they give

Each fossil will give you a special kind of Pokémon, some of which will evolve, and even more, some that you can teach special moves.

| Jaw Fossil | Tyrunt | Goes to Tyrantrum | Rock / Dragon |
| Sail Fossil | Amaura | Goes to Aurorus | Rock / Ice |
| Old Amber | Aerodactyl | No evolution, Mega possible | Rock / Flying |
