Sony just recently showcased its third State of Play of the year, dropping a bunch of announcements for remastered games and new titles coming to PS5 and PS VR2. The event also revealed more games to be added for the new PS5 Pro that will test and take advantage of its powerful hardware; providing enhanced and revamped modes.
The State of Play, aired on September 24, 2024, went on a short 30-minute run but it gave a packing list of more than 20 game updates, new titles and remasters, as well as new PS5 accessories.

Ghost of Yotei: A New Chapter Unfolds
In what may just be the biggest reveal in the September 2024 State of Play, Sucker Punch reveals the highly-awaited sequel to Ghost of Tsushima. Taking place 400 years after the original story, Ghost of Yotei introduces a new female protagonist, Atsu, in the era of Feudal Japan. A fresh story will also unfold as she and her wolf companion explore the area around Mount Yotei. The sequel promises more samurai action and breathtaking scenery in its 2025 release.
Horizon Zero Dawn Made Even Better
Guerilla Games breathes new life into the 2017 original, bringing the game’s visuals on par with its critically-praised sequel. Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered is set to launch on October 31 on PS5 and PC. The remaster features over 10 hours of re-recorded conversations, new motion capture, and numerous graphical improvements. While the original still looks stunning, this aims to enhance the experience for next-gen hardware.
Stellar Blade x NiEr Automata: Two Worlds Collide
ShiftUp announced a DLC collaboration between Stellar Blade and NiER Automata. In this unexpected crossover, YoRHa androids will join forces with Eve and her squad, bringing together two beloved game universes. In addition, new features like an enhanced Photo Mode for capturing in-game moments are coming to Stellar Blade. The details are yet to be announced by ShiftUp.
Legacy of Kain Rises From The Grave
After a two-decade hiatus, the Legacy of Kain franchise is making a comeback. To celebrate the 25th anniversary of Soul Reaver, Aspyr is remastering Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2. The updated action-adventure classics will feature improvements to visuals and quality of life. Fans can mark their calendars for December 10, when both remasters are set to release for PS4 and PS5.
Monster Hunter Wilds Gets a Release Date
Capcom’s popular monster-slaying franchise is gearing up for its next big adventure. Monster Hunter Wilds, the next mainline entry in the series will introduce new areas, monsters, weapons, and gameplay features. Fans can expect the game’s release for PS5, Xbox Series, and PC on February 28, 2025.
Alan Wake 2 Expands with Lake House DLC
Remedy Entertainment’s highly anticipated Alan Wake 2 is getting its first expansion with the Lake House DLC. The new expansion takes players to an eerie location at Cauldron lake where reality has collided with the dark.
Metro Awakening: An Immersive Horror Experience
A new addition to the Metro series is coming to PSVR2 on November 7. From a series known for its excellent and atmospheric post-apocalyptic storytelling, Metro Awakening could be offering a highly immersive experience with intense horror and survival gameplay.
Fantasian Neo Dimension Brings JRPG Nostalgia
Hironobu Sakaguchi, the creator of Final Fantasy, is bringing his latest RPG to PS5, Featuring hand-crafted dioramas in stunning 4K resolution, this unique blend of old-school JRPG mechanics and modern visuals aims to captivate both longtime fans and newcomers alike. Fantasian Neo Dimension launches on December 5.
Dragon Age: The Veilguard Showcases Stunning Gameplay
EA showcased new gameplay from Dragon Age: The Veilguard, set to release on October 31. This latest entry in the beloved RPG series features epic battles, including an intense dragon encounter. Fans can look forward to diving back into the rich world of Thedas on PS5.
The New PS5 Chroma Collection
Three new color schemes have been announced for the PS5 consoles and DualSense wireless controller, these being the Chroma Pearl, Chroma Teal, and lastly, Chroma Indigo. Pre-orders for the PS5 Chroma Collection begin on October 3, 2024.
The launch date for Chroma Pearl and Indigo will be on November 7 while Chroma Teal would have to wait until January 23 next year.
PlayStation 5 Pro Revealed
The long-rumored PlayStation 5 Pro is finally official. Set to launch on November 7, this upgraded console promises enhanced features for compatible games. Developers are already working to leverage its increased power, with more titles joining the list of PS5 Pro enhanced games.
PlayStation Plus: Upcoming Additions
PlayStation Plus subscribers have plenty to look forward to. October’s Monthly Games lineup includes WWE 2K24, Dead Space, and Doki Doki Literature Club Plus. Additionally, classic titles like Dino Crisis and Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain will join the Premium tier later this year. As a surprise bonus, The Last of Us Part I becomes available to Extra and Premium members on September 26.
