Eight of the world’s top Counter-Strike: Global Offensive teams will face off in the Pinnacle Cup Championship, which is due to begin tomorrow, June 8 in Lund, Sweden.

Astralis, BIG, Evil Geniuses, Fnatic, Heroic, Imperial Esports, MIBR, and Team Finest will all battle to take home $150,000 in the three-day event.

Astralis redemption?

It has not been smooth sailing at recent tournaments for CS:GO giants Astralis. After an early exit at both the PGL Major Antwerp and Intel Extreme Masters: Dallas, the Danish org will finally look to find some success in 2022. Their tournament begins with a group stage against Evil Geniuses, Imperial Esports, and Team Finest

Roster debuts for Fnatic and Evil Geniuses

Two teams will debut brand-new rosters at the Pinnacle Cup championship. Fnatic will unveil their reformed roster, including former Copenhagen Flames players Nico “nicoodoz” Tamjid and Fredrik “roeJ” Jørgensen. Fnatic are hoping their new roster will usher in a new era of success for the org.

Meanwhile, this will be the first major outing for Evil Geniuses’ Project Blueprint, an innovative 15-man CS:GO roster. While Evil Geniuses are likely to stay with their primary roster for the event, they could throw in some surprise moves to catch their opponents off-guard.

MIBR debut for brnz4n?

MIBR shook up their roster in mid-May when they promoted academy prospect Breno “brnz4n” Poletto. However, the team was unable to unveil their new young star at IEM Dallas after he encountered visa issues.

It appears as though those same issues will not plague the team in Sweden, allowing MIBR to field their new-look, full-strength lineup.

Glory for Last Dance?

Imperial Esports have not been able to provide the glory they had to when they signed Last Dance, a roster headlined by CS:GO legend Gabriel “FalleN” Toledo, in February. Having come up short at both the PGL Major Antwerp and IEM Dallas, the Pinnacle Cup Championship represents the next opportunity to put a title in the hands of this storied Brazilian lineup.

Does Team Finest have another run in them?

With the Copenhagen Flames withdrawing due to their planned roster rebuild, Team Finest will appear in their place. While not a household name, Team Finest made waves when they made a Cinderella run all the way to the Pinnacle Cup IV trophy in May. Can new head coach Jędrzej “Bogdan” Rokita repeat the team’s success?

The Pinnacle Cup Championship begins on June 8, with a double-elimination GSL group stage. The winner of each group proceeds to the upper bracket of a double-bracket knockout elimination, while the second-place teams enter the lower bracket.

The tournament concludes with the Grand Final on June 11.
