The playoff stage of PGL Arlington Major 2022 starts this Tuesday, August 9, from 5 pm CEST. The competition will start with the first round of upper bracket matches, which will involve eight Dota 2 teams.

Now that we’ve had a chance to watch the 12 remaining teams compete in the group stage of the tournament, we can see with a high level of certainty who the favorites are. This doesn’t mean that they will actually win the opening matches, but it does mean that their odds of winning are better than their opponents.

PSG.LGD vs. BOOM Esports

Given how dominant PSG.LGD were in group A of PGL Arlington Major, BOOM’s chances to win this match are almost null. Wang “Ame” Chunyu and his crew won seven of the eight best-of-two matches in the group stage and drew the eight. The versatility and level of skill they displayed are off-the-charts.

Meanwhile, BOOM finished fourth in group B and only won two matches. Their overall score was 2W – 3D – 2L.

This match should end with a score of 2–0.

Entity vs. OG

Entity and OG actually know each other quite well. Both teams play in Western Europe’s first division and OG is for sure considerably stronger. The last two matches ended with a clean victory in their favor (2–0).

Even though Entity’s performance in the group stage of this event was excellent, their group was arguably weaker than OG’s. And in a best-of-three match, Sebastien “Ceb” Debs is very hard to beat. His mentality is excellent and his ability to come back from a worst-case scenario is second to none.

The most likely score here is 2–1 for OG.

Outsiders vs. Team Spirit

Outsiders regularly defeat Spirit in the first division of Eastern Europe, but it remains to be seen if they can beat the TI champions at a LAN event like this. Either team could win the match and the score is likely to be 2–1 or 1–2.

Team Aster vs. Fnatic

Fnatic looked impressive in the group stage, despite the fact that they play with two different rosters combined in one. They drew against almost everyone and only lost to PSG.LGD. This guarantees that they’re strong.

Team Aster won group B with a record of 3W – 4D – 0L. So they finished the group stage undefeated. When we look at this Chinese squad, it’s immediately obvious that they’re here to win the title.

The score here will likely be 2–1 in favor of Aster.
