The first competitive day of PGL Arlington Major was full of great matches but also surprises. Teams that were regarded as being certain underdogs proved to be a lot stronger than what the statistics indicated ahead of the tournament.
Meanwhile, some of the big favorites, such as Evil Geniuses, had a rough time against opponents they were supposed to beat with ease.
Day one results
Day one of PGL Arlington Major featured 16 best-of-two matches. In group A, six of the eight matches ended in a draw. However, in group B, only one match was a draw. This clearly shows that in group A, the skill difference between the teams is much smaller than in group B.
These are the rankings tables at the end of day one:

Hyped day two matches
On the second day of PGL Arlington Major, we will have the chance to watch some amazing matches. The biggest favorites of the tournament will start to face each other and the results will tell us who the best of the best are.
In group A, the best matches of the day will be the following:
- LGD versus OG
- Fnatic versus RNG
- Liquid versus Outsiders
- Fnatic versus PSG.LGD
- Thunder Awaken versus RNG
In group B, the top matches will be these:
- EG versus Spirit
- Na’Vi versus Tundra
- Aster versus Spirit
Normally, the teams from group A will play better against Fnatic on the second day of the tournament, simply because the SEA team competes with three stand-ins and their playstyle has likely been decyphered last night.
In group B, it remains to be seen if Evil Geniuses had a bad day yesterday or if they actually lack the necessary qualities to compete at this level with their current roster.
