Persona 5 Royal and Call of Duty Are Officially Crossing Over

It’s the crossover few saw coming: the Phantom Thieves of Hearts are infiltrating Call of Duty: Mobile. Activision has confirmed that the shooter’s upcoming Season 6, fittingly titled “Take Your Heart,” is built around a full collaboration with Persona 5 Royal — marking the first time Atlus’ beloved JRPG has ever teamed up with the Call of Duty franchise. The season launches on July 1 at 5 PM PT.

A first for both franchises

Since its 2016 release, Persona 5 has grown into one of the series’ most popular entries and a fixture on “best RPG of all time” lists, with the 2019 enhanced edition, Persona 5 Royal, earning its own wave of acclaim. Royal has built a reputation for unexpected crossovers — teaming up with the likes of Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds and others — but Call of Duty is comfortably its deepest move into pure shooter territory yet.

For CoD: Mobile, this is business as usual. The game has become Call of Duty’s go-to home for wild collab skins over the years, recently folding in characters from The Boys and Godzilla, among many others. Pairing a stylish, turn-based JRPG with a military shooter is exactly the kind of left-field team-up the mode thrives on.

The Operators: Joker, Panther, Queen, and Violet

The centerpiece is a set of four Phantom Thieves-inspired Operator skins: Cipher – Joker, Scylla – Panther, Alias – Queen, and Urban Tracker – Violet (Ren Amamiya, Ann Takamaki, Makoto Niijima, and Sumire Yoshizawa, respectively). These aren’t simple reskins — each comes loaded with extras like unique lobby entrances, a mask accessory, a watch displaying your elimination count, a Persona 5 Royal social quick-menu, and a baton-pass animation that triggers in Multiplayer when you own two or more of the themed Operators.

Worth noting: rather than dropping the cast in with their signature anime art style, the skins render them as realistic military-sim Operators — a stylistic choice that’s already sparked some debate online among fans who find the uncannily realistic look a bit unsettling.

Plunder Treasure Hunt and a Palace-themed event

The collaboration takes over Battle Royale through Plunder Treasure Hunt, a Persona-flavored twist on the cash-grab mode. Certain areas of the Isolated map transform into special domains, marked by a large red sphere instantly recognizable to Persona players. Step inside and your HUD shifts into Persona 5 Royal visuals, tasking you with clearing three waves of Shadow enemies to crack open a treasure chest packed with cash and Persona masks that grant bonuses for the rest of the match.

Outside of BR, a dedicated event space features shooting galleries themed after the Palaces from Royal’s main story. Milestone rewards include a Backpack – Morgana, a motorcycle skin inspired by Ryuji Sakamoto, and a Nuclear Strike customization that has Morgana cheering players on. There’s also a Legendary ORV – Morgana Vehicle Skin up for grabs for those who collect the new Operator skins.

Weapons, the Battle Pass, and a new mode

On the weapon side, the store gets four Legendary Persona-themed blueprints — LK24 – Arsène, QQ9 – Carmen, Type 63 – Johanna, and RAM-7 – Cendrillon — each with special elimination effects. The Season 6 Battle Pass leads with the new FSS Hurricane SMG (built around ammo capacity and stability) plus a VTOL Jet Scorestreak, and Season 6 also introduces Throwable Frenzy, a Multiplayer mode that swaps guns for Combat Axes across a target-hitting arena.

A big year for Persona

The timing is fitting, because 2026 has been a milestone year for the franchise as it marks its 30th anniversary. Earlier in June, Persona 5 Royal returned to Xbox Game Pass, while Persona 4 Revival locked in a February 18, 2027 release date. The long-awaited Persona 6 has also been confirmed, with rumors pointing to a September 2027 launch.

Given Persona 5’s enormous popularity, this could prove one of Call of Duty’s more notable crossover partnerships — and it’ll be interesting to see whether the collaboration ever expands beyond the mobile entry into the wider Call of Duty ecosystem down the line.
