A strange and unusual situation occurred recently in the LCO (League of Legends Circuit Oceania) when the league announced that a team would be removed from the competition in violation of the rules.

PEACE, a team that had just completed two years since its creation, was immediately removed from the LCO.

LCO announces PEACE is removed from the competition

In an official announcement on its blog, the LCO announced that the Australian team PEACE is removed from the league immediately due to non-compliance with its participation agreement.

According to the LCO, PEACE failed to submit an eligible roster during the tournament’s first two weeks, leading to delays in player payments. The LCO also reported that the league would continue with seven teams for the remainder of Split 1, and the teams that would play PEACE in the second round would receive a BYE.

PEACE could not get the visa for their players in time, so they did not submit the eligible list. But, on the other hand, the LCO said:

“In addition, Peace failed to meet payment deadlines for players and team personnel, which adversely affected the welfare of the players within the league. These behaviors are considered material breaches of his previous Team Participation Agreement (“TPA”).”

Over the past several months, the LCO sought to assist PEACE in resolving its significant issues. Moreover, league management informed the team that they would not be offered a TPA in the 2023 season last November 23, 2022. This is a pressure measurement for the Australian team to take action and solve their previously identified problems.

However, the organization’s problems continued, leading the LCO to remove them immediately from the league. According to the LCO, they are doing all of this to “ensure fairness and maintain the integrity of the league.”

What will happen to PEACE’s place in the LCO?

Now, as a result of this final expulsion of PEACE from the LCO, the league will sell the seat to another interested team. The funds received will be used to pay all outstanding payments to both players and staff who worked at PEACE. In addition, the LCO will help arrange travel for those players who wish to return to their home countries.

Despite being a very new team, PEACE managed to qualify for Worlds 2021. At that time, the lineup was full of experienced LCO players, but they finished in 17th-18th place and took home a prize of $38,937.
