FromSoftware and Bandai Namco have warned players that the PC version of Elden Ring Nightreign, released today, may be plagued by frame drops when using the latest graphics cards.

Patch 1.01 for the game has been released, which should make the game more stable on PC and consoles. In addition, characters are easier to control and adjustments have been made to the game’s balance. Players are advised to download and install the patch before starting Nightreign.

The patch notes include a comment about the PC version of the game. “Some PC configurations using the latest graphics cards may experience frame drops,” Bandai Namco and Fromsoftware write. This means that the frame rate may sometimes drop during gameplay. The companies say they are currently investigating the situation. For now, PC gamers can avoid frame drops by setting the graphics settings to “Medium” or ‘Low’ instead of “High.” Players are also advised to download the latest drivers for their graphics cards.

In Elden Ring Nightreign, players can go on an adventure in groups of three—or alone if they prefer—and explore Limveld, a twisted version of Limgrave. In this new yet familiar area, players must survive three in-game days among many enemies and dangerous bosses, after which they can attempt to defeat the Nightlord and receive powerful items that will help them in the next session.

Elden Ring Nightreign features a total of eight different Nightfarers – or playable classes – to choose from. In the network test earlier this year, Wylder, Guardian, Recluse, and Duchess were playable. Ironeye, Revenant, Executor, and Raider have now also been revealed.

Elden Ring Nightreign is available today on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X and S, and Xbox One. The base edition of the game costs $39.99. It was recently reported that FromSoftware may add the option to play the game with two players sometime after the game’s release.

Marcel gave the game a score of 80 in his review and wrote: “The question isn’t whether Elden Ring Nightreign is fun enough, because it definitely is. I hate to say it, but it’s a real rollercoaster ride. Nerve-racking action with a spectacular boss fight at the end, just like in The Baron. It shouldn’t work, but it works so well. This is a game I can see myself playing often and for a long time—provided there’s enough enthusiasm for it.”
